2025 Transfer Portal Thread

I was going to suggest the same but didn't feel like defending it to the Boswell truthers.

Based on what I saw last year, hes done nothing to deserve 15-20 minutes. Doesn't mean it can't change, but I'll believe it when I see it. I saw no discernible offensive skill. Defense was passable, but not good enough to be a non-factoe on offense.
He just looked complete incapable of handling the ball vs pressure and getting us into our offense. Hard to see him completely 180ing that in one offseason.

Things can get skewed around here. I was involved in that Boswell discussion. Not sure how it was a "truther." I just merely made the point that he can improve and had a shoulder injury last year. I also said that 10 minutes off the bench wouldn't surprise me. That is still contribution off the bench.

As the roster stands I would say something like:

Gillespie 35
Abram 30
Ament 30
Carey 30
Okpara 30

Bench: Phillips 20, Estrella 15, Evans 5,Boswell 5
I think you might be sleeping on Amari Evans... might be a hot take, but I think he sees 15 mpg... especially with how thin we are at the 2/3.

It wasn't a shot at you (or anyone), particularly, nor was it a jab at the general idea that Boswell can improve. More at the idea that his one year in the system automatically gives him a leg up in the pecking order ahead of the newcomers.

Personally, I'm mostly out on Boswell because I was never on board to begin with. Never believed in him as a PG. Never liked him as a recruit and was surprised he stuck around for year 2. Again, im not saying he can't improve. I'm just in the "believe it when I see it" camp.

It’s possible, someone between Boswell, Evans & Massamba will obviously get minutes if we don’t add someone else. His media spot today sure didn’t sound very promising on him being a huge component this year though.

My opinion is that his learning curve is steeper than most want to realize. It's not a long-term knock. He could be a kid that barely plays this year and then becomes a really good player a year later.
Potentially. I love his upside, but in the now, his versatility and driving ability made me feel a lot better about the depth. If he's not playing you have NO guard depth for THIS year

Phillips cannot make an outside shot...his whole off. was around the basket...his FT % was below 60%...he might can guard a few wings but this guy cannot perform his best outside the paint!
I agree. The more i look at our roster i do feel we have some good or even great potentially players, but this team doesn’t seem put together properly at all. Obviously I hope i’m wrong but we have no starting quality 2 guard, and also no wing off the bench who can play some minutes at the 3. I mean I love Cade but seriously? playing him at the 3? 🤦🏻‍♂️

I know you're not doing a detailed breakdown or anything, but that would leave 30 bench minutes for the 3-5 and you have Estrella and Phillips getting 35 minutes combined. All the backup 3 minutes theoretically going to Phillips with excess minutes left.

Evans, Henderson, Boswell, French kid, someone is going to be needing to get way more than 5 minutes. We need another guard desperately if these freshman and Boswell can't contribute this season.

Maybe Ament plays the 2 some 🤷🏻‍♂️

Agreed. Although if he’s only averaging 5 mins/game this season, I’ll credit him for sticking it out and not transferring. Curious to see how he develops in the offseason.

Boswell taking a sophomore leap and being serviceable like Cade this past year would be massive for backup 1 and 2 guard spots. That lineup is loaded in front court and barren in backcourt.

I wonder if Henderson can make a small impact as freshman because of his ability to shoot the three. We need more than just Gillespie, Ament, and Abram shooting from deep. I’m not sure Boswell and Evans are as capable three point shooters.
