2025 Transfer Portal Thread

That % on 15 made threes in SEC play (20 games). Seems like it takes him some time to get it off. He is not overly reliant on his shot to produce but he probably isn't this big name I think he/his people think he might be
He was 40-93 overall from 3, though, so it’s not like it’s a really small sample size. For comparison, Mashack was 20-57.

Do whatever it takes to get Miles. He’s the last missing piece this team has to have. He’s, imo, the potential difference in a sweet 16 roster vs a Final 4 roster..
This is very reminiscent of the week when everyone was saying we were national title contenders with Rodney Rice and would struggle to stay in the top 25 without him. It’s just not true.

That’s a strong take. Be honest… were you familiar with this guy prior to the portal opening this year? I watch a fair amount of basketball, especially in the SEC, and I had to google who he was a month or so ago when his name first popped up. He’s a guard that essentially makes 1 3P a game. That doesn’t really scream huge difference maker deep in the NCAA tournament like you’re suggesting.

Good point, but to me it's simply about having depth of offensive weapons, something that has plagued many Barnes teams here at some point of the season, often at the worst times. It's about having another shooter who can come off the bench, ala Gainey, and provide defense and energy as well. Scoring droughts have been the death knell of some recent seasons, and a kid like this goes a long way to mitigate that situation.

Every mediocre recruit is the missing piece to a title. And then when they get here and score 6 points a game, the world is ending. Miles is probably 20% as good as people are making him out to be.

Yeah, give me the 2 team system 🤣

PG: Gillespie
SG: Miles
SF: Ament
PF: Carey
C: Okpara

Sub 5:

PG: Gainey
SG: Abrams
SF: Massamba
PF: Cade
C: JP

Win?

I think expecting much from him during his freshmen year is pretty unrealistic. If he cracks the lineup for more than a handful of minutes, I’ll be shocked.
I guess it depends on what you mean by “much”? 247’s update yesterday now has him Top 50, he played in OTE which is much better competition than HS so that should help him, physically he’s at a level that he’s ready for college, and he’s a guy that plays defense so we know Barnes will probably want to reward him…do I think he’s a 30mpg starter, no, but I do think he’s probably carves out a role as a 9-10 man depending on who else gets added to this roster and he has a chance at a consistent role.

I personally thought he was the best player on the floor at times

I guess I just am not seeing all these possible names, and nobody has provided any…if the 5th year happens it’ll be July at the absolute earliest, which is well after the draft and summer league rosters being set.
Just looked at the all-american team and there are a handful of names that are projected late 1st to 2nd round picks that would get an absolute bag if they returned. Who knows if they would but I'd guess they'd at least have to listen to offers. If Rice is getting 3mil+, what does a guy like sears or clayton get?

LJ Cryer
Mark Sears
Walter Clayton
Ryan Kalkbrenner
John Tonje
Broome
Hunter Dickinson
Lanier
Zakai

Cryer has played 5 already, same for Sears, Kalkbrenner, Tonje, Broome, Dickinson & Lanier

Ahh I see. Still seems like there are plenty of names to change the landscape of college basketball if the 5th year gets approved.

Florida guards
Wade Taylor
Nembhard
Hunter Sallis
Graham Ike
Raynaud
Javon Small
Viktor Lakhin
Jalon Moore
Igor

Certainly, but now we’re back to my first point…which of those guys are going to remove themselves from the NBA draft & summer league waiting for a potential rule change to happen? Right now it doesn’t appear that any of them are…

Really bullish on Abram and Evans.

PG: Gillespie / Boswell / Henderson
SG: Abram / Massamba
SF: Ament / Evans
PF: Carey / Phillips
C: Okpara / Estrella / Brown

Clear ten man rotation, Brown and Henderson development pieces, Boswell and Phillips take a step forward in their scoring and we're elite.

Yea i guess it would have to get to a point where the teams are confident enough to make a real offer and the timing of the settlement may not allow that

Assuming offense from Boswell, Massamba, Evans or Henderson seems risky…that’s why I would love another offensive piece. I feel like that’s a strong 8, but questions offensively still and a guard injury away from some issues

Bingo, that’s why I don’t have much concern about it potentially strengthening a bunch of other teams
