2025 Transfer Portal Thread

I’m sure we will be fine.

Guess I need to get use to the idea of a more balanced offense instead of one guy scoring 15-18ppg

I just don’t see it from anyone on the current roster. There’s potential, but a lot of unknowns.
Cooper Flagg 30.7mpg 19.2ppg 7.5rpg
Ace Bailey 33.3mpg 17.6ppg 7.2rpg
**Ron Holland 33.6mpg 20.6ppg 6.6rpg
**Matas Buzelis 32.0mpg 14.3ppg 6.9rpg
Kyle Filipkowski 29.1mpg 15.1ppg 9.0rpg
**Jonathon Kuminga 32.8mpg 15.8ppg 7.2rpg

**G League, not college

The last 5 years Top 5 recruits who were 6’9”+ SF/PF, maybe it’s not fair but a baseline for Ament based on the above would seem to suggest 15/7 for him at minimum, which ironically enough was exactly what Tobias Harris gave us.

When I see Chaikin mentioned it reminds me of Justin Powell. He finished his collegiate career shooting 42% from 3. I am very intrigued by Chaikin, but I also wonder what his outcome would be.
Bro Justin Powell hit 19 threes his entire freshman year and Chaikin hit nearly half of that in one game lol

I just hope Barnes doesn’t scare the kid lmaooo

Igor looked like someone shot his mom half way through the season.

Then the scouting reports of him not being as aggressive as you want a 6’9 guy to be, but that’s easily fixable.

I’m with you, Barnes seems to have loosened the reigns each of the last 2 years more so than previous years, given that Ament is a guy he has wanted more than anyone I think he’ll have more leniency with him.

Watch Barnes pull in Kennard Davis and then he balls out next year.
Didn't know he was in the portal until you mentioned his name. He'd be a bit of an odd fit as a guy who probably makes more sense on the wing with his size and lack of quickness and athleticism, but I think we could make it work. He's got good body control attacking the rim, shot very well from 3 (37.6%) on 170 attempts.

Yeah best case you get a Kennedy Chandler situation who hit a freshman wall then needed a pep talk from TJ ford and he went up a gear.

I'm guessing he'll be shot out of a cannon with his talent first few games and maybe hit a wall at some point and then either go Jullian Phillips or Kennedy Chandler route when things get tough

If that’s the case, then finish the team whoever. I was mostly worried about that and other unknowns we have on the team.

Tons of potential, but we just don’t know how a few guys will turn out.

Barnes will coach them up and I’m sure we will look like a top quality team like you said. If Barnes can be more lenient with Ament, then we should be golden.

Igor was always soft, Barnes cussing him out didn't make him that way haha. A lot of our complaints about him are similar to the ones Charlotte fans had

I was about to say big difference with Chaikin and Powell is that Chaikin saw damn near 90 three balls go down as a freshman compared to less than 20 for Powell, he’d be an elite shooter for us.
Also chaikin is willing to attack the rim. He made 82 FT his freshman year. Powell didn’t hit 82 free throws in his career.

They still need to add shooters no doubt, the more the floor can spread the more room Ament has to work.

We have what 3 spots left?

Returning: 4 (Felix, JP, Cade, Bishop)
HS: 4 (Ament, Evans, Brown, Henderson)
Portal: 2 (Ja'Kobi, Carey)

My top 3 adds if it was me...

Alex Chaikin - 3 years left, is a ridiculously good shooter, great size as a SG and I enjoy smaller school to big school as they typically work harder

Duke Miles - SEC experience, great defender, can backup PG and also play the 2, efficient scorer

Malik Thomas - Experience, great size, rebounds well, defends well, shoots great and can score

Leave one open for Felix’s brother.
