2025 Transfer Portal Thread

As someone who hasn't watched any film yet, what's Ament freshman year look like? Is he a guy projected one-and-done talent like Tobias or more of a "uber talented, super raw" talent like Phillips that won't light up the world?
He has a ton of moves around the basket at the HS level. Can fill it up down low.

Just looking at how Barnes works usually. He started Kyle & Grant. Igor & Felix. ON & Uros/Aidoo too

I would love to see Ament at the 4 myself, he might end up there too. Either way gonna be an exciting problem to have.
Like the way you worded that last sentence. Cause it would certainly be a problem for teams.

I was about to say Ament is KD skinny... but they have KD listed at 204 lbs coming out of HS and Ament as 185... No way KD weighed that much.

Ain't no way in hell KD was 200 lbs in college lol

Yeah...exciting times, hopefully no surprises.

PG - Ja'Kobi
SG - Rice
SF - Ament or Freeman
PF - Carey
C - Felix

Unless Ament or Freeman show they can play the stretch 4 I think Carey is gonna start there. He's a real threat inside the paint to score with more than just lobs or put backs, actually has moves.

JP will be given plenty of time to get back to full health... likely see Cade, Bishop and Evans as off the bench contributors and then I think we'll add 1 more bench player from the portal.

Rick is gonna give everyone a shot to play though...especially if we're assuming the 5 year "no more redshirts" passes. So we might see Henderson/Brown early in the year too.

EDIT: All the above is assuming 13 scholarships with no returning seniors (gonna assume that's not happening until it does)
1) Ament is a $3M+ 1 and done likely top 5 pick. He's going to start, just like David Sanders. Both because of the investment but more importantly because they're both that talented. Agree that Carey is likely the starting 4, giving us Cade/JP/Brown as a really really good 3-5 big man corps off the bench.

I think Evans is good enough to push for some Wing minutes along with Freeman behind Ament.

I want the bigger more athletic lineup.

Personally, I just don’t want Carey in the starting line up.

Highlight film… he looks like Tobias in this comparison. Imo Hopefully we’ll get to see it here up close. Anybody, even early projected #1 pick, is somebody I’d roll the dice on all day every day. Especially knowing you’re gonna have to grind it out on the defensive end

I’m trying not to get too excited yet because Rodney Rice just feels so iffy to me, but obviously hoping i’m wrong and he commits soon lol

Carey at least we know can play in the SEC. We’re all hoping Freeman & Ament can.

I hope Freeman is athletic enough to guard the wing though, cause with that much length our defense will be scary good.
