Rice and dad wanted to commit on visit. His agent is trying to get more. The USC visit was not on the radar this morning. I don’t know if that is real or a bluff to get money. I can see this finishing before he ever goes or coming undone because they play it too hard. The tales of big money are making everyone skittish. A lot of freaking out here over these young men. I understand why, because we desperately NEED a starting caliber SG & SF. BUT, Putting a competitive roster together has not been a lackadaisical task for the Vol Hoops coaching staff. Every move is calculated & well thought out. Not just from a talent stand point but also from a cultural + chemistry angle. You all don't know me, but I have full confidence that the outcome of our roster will end up being EXACTLY what our team needs to be successful.
Also,
For those saying we will get both Ament & Freeman - no chance. They play the same position (3-SF) & IF we get 1 of the 2, the other will go elsewhere. That's realistic expectations, so don't get discouraged when we don't land both - it's just logical to know that we won't.
I've seen several of you suggest that one can start at the 3 while the other starts at the 4. That's great and all, but no. We have Cade Phillips + Jaylen Carey who can take up 40 minutes at PF & I'm sure a healthy JP Estrella + Felix Okpara could easily take up another 40 minutes at the 5.
So to get both Freeman + Ament is in no way happening or logical.
Also we have Boswell who we seen guard 1-3 as a freshman. We have a defensive beast coming in on the wing with Evans, and Henderson as a PG prospect behind Gillespie. Who knows, Barnes loves the young man, who is to say he won't be able to earn minutes alongside Gillespie the same way Zeigler earned his when no one knew him early as a freshman.

Rice and Ament don't play the same position, so I am not sure why this is suggested. Rice is a 37% 3 point shooter. Adding him with Gillespie would be a better duo than we've had.

Wouldn't another way to think about the Rice/Ament NIL difference be long term ROI? Based on where we are today, yes, it's likely that Rice would be a bigger impact next year but Ament clearly has the higher long term earning (assume he donates money in the future) and publicity potential?
