2025 Transfer Portal Thread

I heard former Auburn coach Sonny Smith once say take a junior college player’s stats and divide them in half and that should be close to the expected ceiling for his first year in major college ball. Smith recruited a lot of JC players through the years.
Going D2 to D1 is tough enough but going D2 to SEC gives me pause.

Spent many summers on campus there and it's a full blown college. The main gym is just as impressive as TTU or any other OVC gym I've been in. The only JuCo I've been in was Roane State and it just felt like an expensive HS venue...
Spent every Sunday afternoon there as a kid. Learned to dunk at the old Mary Mars gym.

Didn't realize that, as I know several 18-year-olds were drafted last year.

Yeah, it's a super-obscure rule. The only reason I know it is because The Athletic has run a couple of stories about him and Flagg being freaks due to their ages. Jayden Quaintance entered college early while knowing that he'd have to play for two years. If not for NIL, I don't think anybody would have done that in the past. He'd have been the king of his high school at 16/17. Instead, he's a millionaire before turning 18.

Now if we can just get Heup and the football program to learn from the way Barnes and Co are conducting business in the portal, we'd be set...
I don't think the football staff has the eval skills at several positions. Development is also questionable at several spots.
