2025 Transfer Portal Thread

I think we have seen enough times that NOT having ZZ gets you no further than the Sweet 16. Very weird take that you guys don't want one of, if not the best PGs in the history of our program that racks up an ungodly amount of assists.

If I'm choosing ZZ or Gillespie, it's ZZ 100%. There's a chance that you could get both though and just have JG run backup point for 10 mpg and then have him play the 2 for 20+ mpg. CRB made ZZ and KC work, I think he can do the same thing again!

Both of ZZ's worst postseason games were in the Elite 8 in back to back years.

I don't think anyone would turn him down if they come back. I think it is more that he isn't someone who can anchor the team to make a deep run in March.

I personally would take him and Gainey back, but would be ecstatic with Gainey only.

This is silly. KC was the lead guard year 1. Year 2 he was injured. Year 3 we ran into Edey and Purdue and lost by 6. And Year 4 we went out to one of the best KenPom teams of all-time.

Get real.

Back to back Elite 8's for Zakai.... Had he played to his averages last year, we win vs Purdue... The entire team this year sucked vs Houston, but had he played to his average in March (17.5 points / 7.5 assists per game), it is a 5-7 point game at most
2024 vs Purdue: 3-12 / 1-8 from 3 point / 9 points
2025 vs Houston: 1-9 / 1-6 from 3 point / 5 points

I watched Maryland a lot this season because of Derek Queen, but it didn’t take long to see how good Gillespie is as well. Really hope we land him.

Fwiw the VQ note was that Wilkerson & Atwell are 2 names to know as well, not in place of anyone but in addition to. If they land Gillespie & McKneely they still want another scorer and those are 2 of the names they are in contact with.
Mannnnn if Arky returns some of their guys and land Hall…I might start feeling some hope with Wilkerson.

That's potentially vols 3 spot if one of those guys come aboard. 4 spot left

ZZ aidoo and Santi were all sick versus Purdue last year. Our problem this year was not ZZ - it was missed open shots and lack of inside presence on offense and defense.

Painfully stupid. Not much else to say. What you share is totally devoid of context.

If you don't want the SEC all-time single season assists leader and back to back defensive POTY back on your team, then John Wooden couldn't get through to you.

Looked at some highlights of Donovan Atwell, and his jump shot and release looks identical to Victor Bailey. Actually crazy

We would have so many open looks and would probably open more opportunities for Okpara
Don't get me wrong. Love Okpara, but he's not an answer offensively. Plus, he needs to bulk up. After seeing Houston, I'd hope we could add some size for next year. Not real confident in Estrella's health.

That’s totally fair. I just think having 2-3 shooters will open the floor more and allow him to get open looks down low as well.

It very well could be more of the same with him.

Well I care more about hardware and titles.....

Which by the way John Wooden won a lot of......

agreed that's why we need Estrella off the bench so if he isn't good anymore it doesn't hurt us, but if he is good then we have a pleasent surprise off the bench
