2025 Transfer Portal Thread

Gillespie is 6’1”, he’s not LeBron. Any of the shots ZZ had blocked by Houston would have been blocked if Gillespie took them too, assuming he’s quick enough to get into the lane to attempt them.
You're saying this based on height alone? Mark Sears is 6'1 and does a fine job drawing fouls and finishing at the rim. Kyrie is the best finisher in the NBA at 6'2.

4 inches on height and 4-5 inches on your wing span make a huge difference. So I don’t think that’s entirely true at all.

I would be surprised if the issue isn't forced like the Pavia situation. Just feel like there's going to be enough guys that aren't going to sit back and wait patiently for a potential ruling.

Maybe I don't understand the legal system well enough, but I don't think the NCAA is going to be able to do this on their own terms.
I mean, they sure did it on their own terms with baseball rulings and countless other things. Way more examples of them moving entirely too slow for what folks want rather than them being pressured into a quick decision.

Got a bead on Freeman yet? I’d love to see him jump from LMU to UT and kill it. Sounds like a great kid.
Tennessee has been involved for a long time and loves the kid, felt like they’d have a great shot but once he went public others obviously have gotten involved and into his ear. Tennessee still has him atop their list at the position and he knows that, probably could get some more money elsewhere like in most cases, will just come down to what is most important to him ultimately.

He would have 4 years of eligibility left?

Agree, strongly. If Igor’s stock trended up alongside Gainey, we’d have been balanced enough to score in the lane and/or get better looks outside. Unfortunately it didn’t. Cade and Felix are lob and putback guys. That just doesn’t draw enough focus from a defense. When I saw Houston’s guards blowing through screens and holding Lanier down, I literally said “Oh no”. Houston had seen enough of ZZ scoring on the drive that they dropped a big on him anytime he had a step on his man. A guy that size isn’t going to get a ball over two guys in the lane. The true story of the mythical “5th year” has many more steps involved than the yahoos commenting understand. It isn’t a guarantee and it won’t be done for awhile , if it does.
Now you've done it, you can't bring logic into this conversation. The woah is me crowd, is gonna have to come to grips with reality or seek more therapy.
Personally, I really enjoy what you bring to the board. Kudos to you my man

I'll be honest -- watching Folgueiras more and more, not sure I'm as enthralled with him. Plays below the rim and is not a good defender at all.

Really think we need more athleticism there. Like an Alex Steen or Kaleb Banks. Jmo

I don’t want any of them back other than Gainey.
Everyone has their right to an opinion, but not taking back guys as accomplished as Z & Mashack seems like a bad one. I only hope Gillespie can be as productive as Z and provide similar leadership. We know this core group can make us a top 10 team - there’s nothing more than hope and potential for whatever new portal group we may sign. JMO, TIFWIW
