I think we’re interested, but essentially for a can’t pass up deal…come here and compete for minimum $$$, more than anything I think his agent is trying to do his job. It’s being openly reported that we have been in contact with Miles since he decommitted from A&M. Would we reach out to him for any reason you’re aware of other than an interest in adding him?
I understand what you’re saying, but we’re talking about offense.
I think it was BTO yesterday who said Miles or Abrams (can’t remember, been up all night tired lol) is basically Shack defensively but gives you a little more offense.
If Shack provided a little more on the offensive, I personally think he would’ve had a great chance in the league. There was many many many times when he had the ball and I swear all he had to do was drive to the rim and he’s either scoring or going to the line. I wish we could have seen more.
I know Gainey's dad is an assistant coach, but if Miles is close to Mashack on defense and equal to or better than Gainey on 3's, I would be all in on Miles, it's like you are getting 2 players for one. Maybe what money they have left plus money for Gainey is enough to get Miles on board? Thoughts?I think we’re interested, but essentially for a can’t pass up deal…come here and compete for minimum $$$, more than anything I think his agent is trying to do his job.

Go Vols
Absolutely agree about having a veteran voice. Gainey knows the system, having him being able to more or less coach the other guys in real time on the floor, especially on defense, would be invaluable.Gainey's defense has grown exponentially over the last year, to the point where he had become pretty much a shut down defender by the time of the NCAA's. Gainey had turned into a proven closer on offense that could get his own shot and make money shots, a skill that any team can use in crunch time.
I know nothing about Miles other than his numbers and what has been discussed here, but Gainey is a proven commodity that is improving. Given the choice, I'd have to go with Gainey for his knowledge of the system and to have a veteran voice with so many newcomers.
PG: Gillespie / Boswell / HendersonI think we’re interested, but essentially for a can’t pass up deal…come here and compete for minimum $$$, more than anything I think his agent is trying to do his job.
the thing I'm struggling with is if Gainey returns so do several other ballers for our national and SEC foes. Gainey is most likely all we get back so is it a fair trade if we get him but our rivals get 2-3 studs back. I'd rather it just not pass and hope Gainey finds some kind of WaiverPG: Gillespie / Boswell / Henderson
SG: Gainey / Abram / Massamba
SF: Ament / Evans
PF: Carey / Phillips
C: Okpara / Estrella / Brown
Turning into Trippie with the amount of hypo teams I've been making, but damn that looks good and enough for a Final 4 team.
Miles for Gainey still works!
I’ve said this same thing multiple times, but I’ll say it again, who?the thing I'm struggling with is if Gainey returns so do several other ballers for our national and SEC foes. Bama had 4 seniors average over 10 a game.I’ve said this same thing multiple times, but I’ll say it again, who?
You’re talking about players who aren’t in the NBA draft field, won’t sign summer league deals, and won’t sign an overseas deal, who are these players?
Bama had 4 seniors average over 10 a game.
Florida w/ Will Richard and Alijah Martin.
Auburn had a bunch of impact seniors. Same for Kentucky.
I have no idea what any of their roster situations look like, but there are plenty of impact seniors running around.
It just keeps getting repeated, kinda annoying but whatever…I’m sure the number isn’t zero, but I don’t really know of many names. There must be zero since you continue to answer like this.
Yeah fair enough. It just keeps getting repeated, kinda annoying but whatever…I’m sure the number isn’t zero, but I don’t really know of many names.
Again, the part folks aren’t realizing repeatedly is the timeline, if this 5th year thing doesn’t pass until July then you’ve eliminated any player who had their name in the NBA draft, whether drafted or not, you’ve then eliminated anyone who signs a NBA summer league deal, and then you also eliminate anyone who signs an overseas deal or maybe starts their coaching career at a school.
So how many players are willing to pass on all that like what Gainey is doing?
I think Boswell will develop into a decent scorer, but not likely this year. The kid is quick and has a decent looking shot. I could see 8+ PPG next year, if he’s around and has carved out a role. Ultimately, my guess is he ends up elsewhere though. I believe he would do really well at a smaller school.Assuming offense from Boswell, Massamba, Evans or Henderson seems risky…that’s why I would love another offensive piece. I feel like that’s a strong 8, but questions offensively still and a guard injury away from some issues
