Back in the pre-NIL days, you’d see assistants get hired all the time primarily due to a connection or ability to bring a specific recruit in for that year.

Idk if that’s really a thing anymore.

It’s what made me think of the whole thing in the first place. His connections to Chandler, Paulo etc.. seemed to be the big reason we hired him. And it turned out, he was a great recruiter beyond all that.

Based on the timeline, I don't think he was there. KC moved from Briarcrest to Sunrise in 2020. He was TN Mr. Basketball in his sophomore and junior years. Rod Clark left Sunrise in 2019 to take the Illinois-Chicago job. But, I assume that Clark still knew the staff there.

KC officially visited UT in 2019 before going to Sunrise.

this guy was probably our back up to the back up plan. i think our coaches thought he lacked overall athleticism to play in the SEC, but that's a hunch.

Back in the day you would see guys get hired as Head Coaches because they were a high school HC and had AAU connections. Oh wait.... that's only Penny Hardaway.

Doubt it. We likely won’t pursue him again for the same reasons we stopped with Darius Adams.

UCSD likes to run and get shots up so it will suit him well. With that being said, will also be keeping him on my personal radar. Not sure if he's trying to earn more by going to a top mid major program or not, but we shall see

100% we don't get KC without Rod Clark. He was his coach at Mokan Elite. Coached nba all star guys like Tyrese Maxey too.

We made Wade Houston our HC just to get Allen.

I'm so grateful that he did. Those life talks he used to do at Andy Holt made me a MUCH better person. Wade Houston is a wonderful human being.

I stand 100% corrected that Kim English was his main recruiter to TN, and not Rod... even though KC didn't end up playing for English... still tho, Rod & Chandler had a coach / player connection at Mokan before they both were at TN. Either way Rod done a fantastic job here in Knoxville. Grateful for the work he put in

Wade didn't work out, but he was a, seemingly, solid hire at the time. He was the main recruiter for two national champion Louisville teams and his son was a top 5 talent.

To be fair they haven’t done a post for any of the transfers they’ve gotten. Is very odd that there’s nowhere that says he’s signed though
