The War Room today basically said Barnes and Co won't sabotage culture and love the team they have. I guess if they truly can't find serviceable 2 guard in HS or portal going to roll with Evans and Boswell and hope for 5th year ruling.
I think this is right. Perry also can benefit from the discipline of creating a quality shot off cuts and screens. Obviously our staff took that up a big hill with DK and Chaz. Perry can learn to work for shots and keep form. His three percentages last year would’ve been much higher if you remove some of the off balance rockets he put up. He’s a great shot. He just needs to hold his cylinder and form in challenging situations.More likely that he believes he can play at this level but isn't a fit for Pope's system, which based on how Pope attempted to deploy him, is a safe assumption. Rick Barnes wouldn't ask him to play PG or guard opposing PGs, but also can teach him defensive principles to maximize his ability on that end of the floor. If he can transform Vescovi's defense, he can do the same for Perry if Perry puts in the work and has a desire to get better on that end. Additionally, the shooting ability is there for him, just not in the framework of what Pope was asking him to do in that offense.
Frankly, Pope may have known all along that Perry wasn't much of a fit, but the optics of cutting loose the all-time leading scorer in KY high school history for a first year head coach who hadn't yet coached his first game, and wasn't their first, second or third choice just wouldn't be a great look in this state.
A sabotaged culture may not either
Well I like all three of those names quite a bit. Chaikin looks great to my amateur eye.Today’s news is largely that staff is exhausted with this portal cycle. The market is too erratic. New schools are entering with piles of cash at the last minute, and kids aren’t honoring their commitments. All of the current players we’re recruiting have been divas. That never sits well with Barnes. There’s a little buzz around Chaikin who everyone on staff likes. Adams has been torture. Perry is a new thought, but no momentum yet.

From what’s been shared and seeing who he’s now visiting it looks like he wants playing time guarantees and that’s just not something Barnes will ever do. Honestly, if he can’t look at the current roster and see minutes for him are absolutely there for the taking without being guaranteed something then idk about his mindset but that’s just me.So what the frick is going on with Adams? I thought we got the green light to go all in?
