Rice is still strongly considering us. We have a very good offer for him,
Do you think the USC visit is legit or is this just a leverage tactic to try and squeeze every possible dollar he can get out of us?? I recall him saying that he wanted to go beyond the Sweet 16 and that winning was important to him. Don't see that happening if he goes to USC or Nova as their rosters are currently constructed.

Well, this is something to consider on UT getting Rice. How much did his teammate Gillespie get? I don't know the answer. On all accounts that I have read, Gillespie is a better player than Rice and he is a PG, which is a big position of need for Tennessee. With that in mind, I doubt that Tennessee is going to give Rice more NIL money than they did Gillespie. So, if his demand is too high, Tennessee may just move on.

We got 5 mill at max .. if we had 8 to 10 mill..recruitimg would be over.. we offer enough to never work again. But these kids listen to people who have no money. They make more if the kid makes more. Broke parents think its the lottery
Thanks man for letting us know how poor we are. Most posters were keeping it hush hush but you blew it wide open

I’m not broke, and I think it’s like winning a lottery to get $millions to play college basketball when just a few years back the top guys only got hidden money that doesn’t approach today’s NIL$. A poor inner city New York kid like Z didn’t even know if he would go to college. Goes to the Peach Jam, Barnes spots him, VN buys his mom a house when her New York apartment burns, then Z likely gets $4million or more NIL$ in the last 3 years to play at UT. If that’s not winning a lottery, what would you call it?

Matching all 5 white balls but not the red with a 2x power play twice .

Rice and dad wanted to commit on visit. His agent is trying to get more. The USC visit was not on the radar this morning. I don’t know if that is real or a bluff to get money. I can see this finishing before he ever goes or coming undone because they play it too hard. The tales of big money are making everyone skittish. Freeman still going well, but will know more after his visit.
This lines up with what I was told. I was told they wanted to shut it down Sunday no matter who they picked. But that passed. This explains why.

What’s the “ball park” of every current/past TN players including the transfers?
It’s a good indication of how coaches feel about current players vs our past players.

What is the real world reason that you guys keep suggesting this might happen? I have not see anything to suggest that seniors graduating this year are going to get a fifth year. I'm not always plugged in though.
I'm out of the loop on this too, but I figure if Z and Gainey could come back then maybe Mashack?

There is a very real possibility that the rules will be changed in college sports to give 5 years of eligibility to all players, meaning you have 5 years to play 5 seasons instead of 5 to play 4. This would simplify the process on the NCAA end, reducing waiver exceptions, and make redshirting meaningless. The issue is the timing on this. If it happens, it won’t be put into effect until the summer or after. ZZ, Gainey, and Mashack would technically be eligible to return if it passes, but there would need to be spots available to them. The other complicating factor for basketball is they might go to 15 scholarships instead of 13. Realistically, Mashack won’t have a spot, but ZZ and Gainey might.

IMO, Barnes has changed his philosophy and is now priortizing scoring and then teaching defense. Hence Knect and Lanier. With that in mind, Mashack would not be a priority for a spot.
