What if Amari Evans is ready to play ? Man, that will be an extra added element. If he's ready defensively, you know Rick will give him a chance. Hopefully, he rises to the occasion. In fact, Evans is my new favorite player and the Vols biggest surprise, next year. I think Ament will produce and it won't be as big as a surprise as when Amari shows out. L

I'm not a fan of these 5 star one and done types, but if the kid was good enough for the likes of UConn, I say get him and roll him out there with Ament. Probably Barnes final season, so just roll the dice and go for it. Heck, it's not like college basketball does "development" anymore. Go for it.

we just got done seeing a lot of development with Zeigler, Mashack & Gainey. We are about to see even more development with Boswell, Cade, Estrella & Okpara.

In fairness to the 5 stars we have had, they All have been big contributors.
•Josiah Jordan James will be loved by a major portion of the fanbase for a long time as a 5 year starter & he's been playing well in the NBA g league.
•Keon Johnson & Jaden Springer were our two leading scorers as freshmen at Tennessee & they both were great contributors to our team. They have stuck in the NBA for a while (longer than league average)
•Kennedy Chandler was our leading scorer on an outstanding Vol team & led us to an SEC tournament Championship. He even has our all time record for steals in 1 year - as a freshman. Made it to the NBA as an undersized point guard & has continued to flourish in the g league.
•Julian Phillips played his role extremely well all year on an outstanding Vol team & he was seen as one of the nation's best defenders with analytics & advanced stats. He contributed all year & has stuck in the NBA for the same team for a few years now with Chicago.

None of them were close to the make up of a Nate Ament. This is a guy who we are lucky to have. And Darius Adams is the best pure shooter out of all of the rest of the 5 star players we have had.

Each 1 of those 5☆ guys under Barnes were exceptional plus defenders in their 1&done seasons.

BHH I don't consider a 5☆ because from day 1 on campus as a 17 year old thinking he would be the best big in Vol history, he should have been in high school as a Senior. He never had a good work ethic, motor or the best attitude as a Vol.

Recruits are limited to only one official visit per school, he was here in September. So any OVs he takes now would be to schools he hasn't previously visited.

Which is an incredibly stupid rule at this point. These kids are making millions now but they can only take one visit where their meals and hotel is paid for? Lol

Have to think that still uncommitted portal/HS guys have a fair amount of NIL leverage since there won’t be other players becoming available. Of course, the flip side is that much of budgets may have been spent, but seems there are plenty of teams with spots available.

Also, in the future I wonder if teams will encourage/prefer that players commit after the portal entry deadline closes. Because every time you sign a player out of the portal, current players could leave, but not if it’s after the entry deadline. Of course, teams usually try to lock players up early, so who knows.

While that's likely true, there's still no way any kid can have a "guaranteed" starting role. Still, I cannot imagine an old crusty guy like Barnes going down that road with a player.

If the 5th year eligibility rule comes through, I won't be surprised if Gainey ends up starting at the SG position. CRB is much more into who finishes games as opposed to who starts them.

Not only that, but just because he starts doesn’t mean his minutes can’t be reduced if others deserve more minutes.

I made a comment the other day, or at least I think I did, we’ll see how it plays out. A school like that may be better suited for him and his current aspirations, unless those change, we’ll see how the zoom goes.

I don’t want to blast the kid, and as I said a zoom can change a lot, but those 2 schools being where he’s visiting says something for sure.
