2025 Seed Watch Party Thread

Layout that scenario for me please.
Vols win out, Duke loses 1, Houston loses 1, Auburn loses twice and Bama wins twice against UF and Auburn. In that scenario we would be #1 on monday but Bama would be the last 1 seed in most scenarios

Disagree, if Bama sweeps this week, they'll pass us in virtually everything. That being said, I don't think they'll sweep.

like someone already mentioned Bama would be jumping us in the AP poll most likely. Especially since we have no more ranked opponents in the final 2 games and Bama would have beaten two top 5 opponents.

I don't think it's outlandish to say my scenario could happen but in that scenario you think they would move Bama from #7 to 1?

Didn't mean to imply yours was outlandish. With voters, we'd be foolish to think anything was out of the realm of possibility. I didn't honestly think they'd drop them to 7. Figured they'd be 5. With them at 7, who knows what the voters would do. Probably make Duke #1 since they couldn't decide which SEC team deserved it.

AP at season’s end is pretty much meaningless.
It's all about what the committee thinks.
I think it's safe to say Auburn and Duke will be #1 seeds, and most likely Houston if they win out.
Florida, Tennessee, and Bama are fighting for that last #1 seed.
We have to win out or it will be between Flordia and Bama with their match-up deciding who will get that last #1 seed.
Houston could lose and that probably opens the door for 3 SEC teams as a #1 seed but not necessarily. Michigan State still has an outside chance if Houston loses.
I don't think St. John's can get there even with key losses.

If Houston loses and we win out we are definitely passing them

I was just answering the OP's question.

Personally, I care very little what the committee thinks or does. Just win the next game... rinse & repeat. It will take care of itself if we do that.

I don't think Michigan State is in the running. They're #11 in the NET and wouldn't jump into the top 5 with teams ahead of them beating up one another. I think most will agree these are the #1 seeds:

Auburn
Duke
some combination of Tennessee/Houston/Alabama/Florida for the other two. We will be no worse than #6 or #7 on the S-Curve, and that's if we lose twice this week.

I'd say there is at least a 1 % chance if we lost the next two and 1st game of tournament, and Houston lost the next two and 1st game of tournament. Especially if MSU won the big 10 after winning out the season. Extremely unlikely, but not impossible.

It's not possible for Alabama and Flordia both to lose the next two, so that's what is really hurting MSU's very slim chances. If Alabama lost next two and 1st game of tournament tho, along with us and Houston doing the same, then that would probably be their only hope.
Odds of that happening are effectively zero, but not necessarily zero.

If we win our regular season hard not to think it’s also plausible we’d be ahead of Houston
I really thought they’d lose one somewhere along the way. I do believe Iowa State would’ve gotten them if not down their top 2 scorers but such is life. KU at least fighting tonight.

TTU would have gotten them for sure if they’d been healthy. Almost got it done short handed.
