2025 Recruiting

i would give anything for us to stop talking about how short a new recruit is. how many short players have to eat our lunch from opposing teams for it to sink in that skill and quickness will usually be more valuable, especially in a system like ours? moving on...it's a tired subject, respectfully.

Right? All that matters is how they play.

OMG at Florida State is tiny but it isn’t stopping her. Awesome PG for them. Latson isn’t huge either. She’s listed 5’8” but looks 5’7” and is crazy strong. One of the best scorers in the country.
exxxxactly. we have been the taller team for years. not meant anything at all. and sorry for the double post. not sure why that happened. lol

there is a very wise old saying,,,good enough is big enough

You have to play strong now matter the size. But you can definitely use both taller or shorter. Just be strong at your craft. GLV 🍊 💥

I don't think the concern is that the shorter players will be no good. I think the thought is that some height from someone will be needed, they just can't ALL be small...a smattering of decidedly north of 6 foot in this league is helpful.
I'd say, in Kim's present system, a true Power Forward with a rebounding mentality and a proficient elbow jumper would be most beneficial

Dare I say it,,,an "Angel Reese",,,a double-double machine

So a player that’s 30% on layups and 12% beyond 5 feet? No thanks.

I mean, obvs.

Pretty sure those saying we shouldn't worry about height were among those turning off the game early last night. Incredible we'd even be having this discussion today, of all days.

Yes,last night highlighted to me that big and bulky like Beers isn't the issue bc our speed negates that...long, lean, and mobile...was a problem.

Ky had height in post but none at 1-2-3 positions. Just flat out outplayed us. When Kim has equal athletic Dogs coming in off the bench watch out 5 in 5 off you will see a big difference in this team next year. In CHRIST Alone

*none at the 1-2 positions...their 3 (Hassett) is 6'3". Or if you're referring to Teonni Key as their 3, she's 6'4".

Were getting four players that can play with anybody that plays their positions. Don't know how Hurst fits in as have to see how things go with her interest in volley ball and basket ball as well. The two sports overlap their seasons so which one will she give priority to.

MIa Pauldo 5-7
Mya Pauldo 5-6
Talaysia Cooper 6-0
Taniya Boyd 5-9
Zee Spearman 6-4
Ruby Whitehead 6-0
Kaiya Wynn 5-10
Alyssa Latham 6-2
Deniya Prawl 6-1
Jaida Civil 6-0
Ace 5-10
Lauren Hurst 6-2

So easy to see where your portal additions need to be 6-3 to 6-5 post players. Hurst fills your three point shooting wing role if she is going to play basketball full time and not come in after volley ball is over. I don't see us going for any guards should be all forward or center. Portal opens March 23rd. Already rumors of some big names entering expect will be something the same as in past seasons. The big names looking for their best NIL deal.

Fortunately, those who are tired can stop talking about it anytime. I still find the conversation about whether height is important in the "new positionless basketball" really interesting. That's always been the question - not height of ea indiv recruit but instead the collective size of the team, whether we're ok with almost no height,

It's even more interesting to me after just getting our lunch eaten and thrown up in the bag by a team with long, lean athletic posts who outran and outrebounded us by an embarrassing margin.

LOL easy for some to see. I totally get that some are all in on a 5 guard, all perimeter oriented approach. That fad comes around from time to time, it's not new. I'm just not sure I want next yrs LVs to be the latest trial balloon for it, esp in the SEC. Esp after Thurs night.

Why voluntarily limit ouselves in any aspect of the game? Let's be versatile.

I understand they need to be at least minimally able to run the floor in this system. Plenty of post type players like that will be a few in the portal we just need one or two.

If Wells doesn’t return, CKC will probably look for a senior, best available at PG, SG, and even wing spots in portal who’s quick footed makes 3s at high %, around 40, to go along with two PF and/or Posts.
Seems like CKC likes having 15 scholarship players on the roster.
