I know we are not allowed to have our established Memorial Day weekend event this year. Since you appear to me to keep up with competitors' events too (to some extent), do you know of any other major football programs that hosted Memorial Day weekend events last year? And if so, who? I couldn't find any.

I’m not aware that we’re barred from having our MD weekend event…

I read a 24/7 article that specified the effect of the NCAA change on Tennessee -- and mentioned no other teams. It's buried at the end of the article.

That is a signature Tennessee event started by Heupel, among other things, to leverage the river as an asset.

I was trying to get more info before posting about it. If the NCAA made a rule that affected only Tennessee among majors...

Wow! So the NCAA made a dead period Memorial Day weekend just to prevent us from having our big event??? That is sure how it sounds. Just move it to the following weekend then.

The information in the story is correct, but the interpretation that it was impacting Tennessee’s plans was not. The “865 Live” event, as you know, has always been held on Saturday, and the four-day dead period begins that Sunday. So that’s just preventing teams from using that entire weekend for official visits or using Sunday or Monday for unofficial visits.

Tennessee’s “865 Live” is set for May 24, which is that Saturday, so nothing has changed in that regard.

I'd break this weekend's OV group into 3 buckets:

Top of the board targets
IOL Darius Gray
IOL Edward Baker
LB Kedric Golston II
Edge Keysaun Eleazer
ATH Joel Wyatt

Gray is a 5-star who we've recruited forever and possibly comes in as a 2026 starter is Moe has a big year and leaves for the NFL. Baker is a really nice IOL prospect as well and we're his stated leader. Golston is a UGA Legacy who we like a lot as a future SDE - unclear how hard UGA is recruiting him. Eleazer has been here a TON and is a true future Edge at only 210-215 LBs but with great height and length. We all know the deal on Wyatt - instate blue chipper who could end up at a bunch of different places on the defensive side of the ball

Not sure where they are on their respective positional boards
CB Khmari Bing
WR Legend Bey
S KJ McClain

Instate legacy who's probably a take
S Luke Thompson

Huge weekend, with one more even bigger one to come:

Vol commits QB Faizon Brandon, Edge Zach Groves, and Edge CJ Edwards will be in town to keep building relationships within the program and to peer recruit.

Two 5-stars are here in Edge Tristian Givens and WR Tristan Keys (LSU commit). Feels like we have some non-zero chance to close Givens down, given that it's been reported we took the momentum back from A&M when he was here for 865 Live. More likely he ends up taking that trip to College Station with the Aggies being in the position of having a ton of ground to make up. Keys...who knows. He's been here a bunch, loves Brandon, and is obviously not firmly committed to LSU. On the other hand he's still got OVs to Bama and LSU on deck. Feels like this one is just too up in the air to get a real feel for.

Other positonal groups:

WR
WR Chris Stewart (Texas commit)
WR Legend Bey

OT
OT Brody Smith
OT Jax Tanner
OT JB Shabazz

LB
TJ White

DL
JJ Finch
Iverson Garcia
Dereon Albert

CB
Zyan Gibson (Bama commit)
Jamyan Theodore
