2025 NFL Offseason Thread

I agree with you about Hurts being tough to judge. I’d probably put him at #6 but you could put him anywhere in the 5-10 range and make a reasonable argument. Hurts is a good runner, generally takes care of the ball, throws a good deep ball, and tends to play his best in the biggest games.

He's limited, but what he does, he's so good at. His teams have been totally stacked and he's benefitted a ton from that, but also he's the perfect QB for them. The way they can control the field and chew clock, make you put 8 or 9 in the box, etc.

He's also just a guy I believe in now. The way he handled the Bama thing with Tua, adapted to Oklahoma, and then the ease at which he changed his throwing motion to prepare for the NFL...I thought he was going to play safety in the pros.

Guess he ignores rookie QBs.

Yeah, they don't grade the rookies in this.

Some notes...he's been doing this since 2014 and Daniels is the highest rated sophomore ever.

It seemed to Sando the reason Burrow got the nod over Allen and Jackson is because so many people in the league still value pure passing more than anything else.

Stafford's first time in tier 1.

Hurts was ranked higher after the SB loss than he is now after the SB win.

Nobody seemed to be worried about Goff and the departure of Ben Johnson @zjcvols

Stafford, Daniels, and Herbert are too high on Sando's list. Daniels mostly because he's played just one year (if he has another season similar to his rookie year, I'd be OK having him there).

I'd put Goff, Stroud, and Hurts above them at this point.

@n_huffhines wondering if you saw this originally, I am genuinely curious.

I missed it.

Age doesn't factor. It's all about who is the best QB right now. It's not like Simmons' trade value list where age and salary and stuff like that matter a ton to the question.

I trust Stafford way more than I trust Goff. Goff probably had the best setup in the NFL the last few years, and he was awesome with it, but I also wasn't surprised by the Redskins loss at home. That's just kinda what I expect from him, and it's what happened.

Stafford hasn't had as much success if you start counting after the SB win, but if you actually look at the fine details of what's going on, he's been awesome. I can't remember the real number, but he was something like 10-1 last year with Nakua and Kupp, and this is a team that was supposed to be in a rebuild. I am not very surprised to see Stafford gave the Eagles their toughest game in the playoffs. That's just kinda what I expect from him.

I disagree. It's tiers going into the season. That would imply age should be a factor.

Stafford has better overall playoff numbers, but since the Super Bowl Goff has not been bad. He was really good in the 2023 playoffs and played more than well enough to get them to the Super Bowl.

Goff took over a team that started a rebuild and led them to a 15-win season. Stafford has McVay, who the media has told me is a faultless coach, so he still has plenty of infrastructure. And they have spent money and assets to build around him since he got there, even after the 2022 debacle season. Goff has a great core around him, but I would look at the 2022 team. He played phenomenal. Stafford has put in solid numbers, but Goff has blown him out of the water the last 3 years. Plus, Goff led his team to a victory over Stafford in the playoffs and played excellent in that game (so did Stafford).

I'm fine with them in the same tier. I'd even listen to Stafford being slightly better. I disagree he's a tier above.

Age is a factor insofar as you think it's going to limit Stafford. Stafford played great ball last year, and played the whole season. Stafford has only missed 9 games over the last 4 years. I don't expect his age to be a problem this year. Maybe it will be. I do not see Stafford as a guy who has declined at all the last few years. Maybe Goff is the guy who will get injured? I'm not changing what tier either is on based on that. That's maybe a Tua thing, but not a Stafford thing.

If the tier is about who is going to have a bigger regular season, than no question, Goff is the pick. Who I think is the better QB is what I'm grading.
