2025 NBA Season Thread aka Draymond's Annual Wealth Destruction Tour

Man, Pacers come up big . I'm hoping for an instant classic, in Game 7, with the Pacers winning. Pretty damn good, Playoffs, I've enjoyed it, even with the occasional blow-out, like tonight. I call it, "a situational blow-out, that makes the Series, more interesting".

I’ve watched 20+ years of cognizant NBA. My first NBA memory is Kerr hitting the jumper in ‘97 to beat the Jazz. I simply cannot remember a more shocking playoff run

1995 was a crazy year when Houston won it all as a 6 seed. They also won 9 road games that playoff year, which I believe is still a record. I recommend watching their games 5 and 7 against the Suns in the 2nd round that year. Great, wild games.

Also, their series against the #1 overall seed Spurs was entertaining thanks to Dennis Rodman’s unstable antics.

1981 Houston Rockets was the 6th seed with a regular season record of 40-42. They defeated the defending Champion Lakers, 2nd seeded Spurs and 5th Seeded Kansas City Kings in WCF. Only to lose the NBA Finals to Celtics 4-2 . Crazy Post Season run I've ever watched in my lifetime.

The amount of miraculous comebacks in such a short timeframe is completely unprecedented and unlikely to ever be duplicated. I think they’ve won a game in every series where at some stage of the 4th quarter the other team had a 95%+ chance of winning.

I think a lot of people are so shocked by this run simply because the media didn’t cover this team. I’m not sure they were on national TV one single time during the regular season. Plus, they got off to a horrible start and most everyone wrote them off.

But this exact team made it to the ECF last season, and even though they got swept, all. but one of the games could have gone the other way. Also, Haliburton got hurt in Game 2 and didn’t play the rest of the series. Now they’re just all one year older now and had a deep playoff run under their belt. They’ve been the best team in the East since New Year’s. Admittedly they also caught a bit of luck in the Bucks not being at full strength and Tatum getting injured and avoiding the Celtics completely.

I’ve liked the Pacers over 30 years ever since those two series against the Knicks hooked me. I can’t quite believe they actually have an opportunity to win a championship on Sunday night.

I’m pumped for game 7. The NBA Finals is the last sporting event I care about until college football, and this is also the first game 7 since 2016. Hope it’s a great game. Regardless, local sports bar tonight!
