2025 NBA Season Thread aka Draymond's Annual Wealth Destruction Tour

Not trying to overreact to 4 playoff games where Ant is playing better competition but I'm ready to have an Ant or Haliburton overall convo right now.

oh and haliburton is the best point guard in pacer history

If you exclude the point forwards and Jokic's of the league, he is easily the best floor general since Chris Paul's peak. I'm not even sure who number 2 is. It's a dying breed, but it shouldn't be. All these teams with a combo guard running the O for them have these frequent lulls in scoring, and seem to have a ceiling on O, but not the Pacers. They always get good shots.

Hali's not even in anybody's top 15.

It feels like he has not received his proper due because he doesn't average 25 a game. He's super-efficient and when you factor in he doesn't turn the ball over, I think he's played himself in the top 10.

I think it's a few things:

- like you say, everybody wants points
- he's so skinny
- he's a little goofy, especially his shot
- the defense is perceived to be pretty bad. (I don't think it's terrible because he's good at hiding)

And then the last thing that people do all the time, even some of the smartest guys in the biz like Lowe and Russillo....we judge players that are hurt as if they are 100%. Hali was not great the 2nd half of last year, and he was very hot and cold in the playoffs. People were critical of the games where he disappeared, and nobody seemed to be saying "Yeah, but he hasn't looked the same since that hip injury."

Now we know what he looks like in the playoffs when he's 100%.

I can't remember a defense with a better ability to humiliate an opponent. The Thunder make stars look lost. They will just take the ball from you like it's varsity vs. the freshman team.

always liked jermaine at forward more than center, and, well

I am trying to imagine what would happen if a PF/C shot 43% from 2's in today's game and finished 3rd in MVP voting what the discourse would be

easy answer is they likely either shoot better because of more space or they dont get the minutes to be in the mvp race

He was shooting long 2's (much like Brook Lopez used to). He'd just have to step back 5 more feet to shoot 3's.

Not sure JO could do the D part. Might've got Hibbert'd (speaking of Pacer centers)

Hali is elite but he also plays for one of the best coaching minds the game has seen.

Rick Smits was a really underrated Center for the Pacers...

I don't think it's the coach as much as it is a difference in abilities, teammates, and opponent. Hali is pass first and the Pacers are running 5 out against the Knicks. T Wolves are 3.5 out against an all-time defense. Ant is a scorer/playmaker hybrid with bad spacing to deal with (and he's 2 years younger than Hali).

I don't even hold game 4 against Ant. OKC sold out to stop him and his teammates were scorching hot. What's he supposed to do? Take worse shots than they were getting, just to assert himself? He was successfully a decoy, and they lost because they couldn't stop OKC.

I really wanna see what OKC has for Hali. I can't imagine he'll be dribble-driving against them like he did in the first 3 rounds

Is Dame Sarr that committed to Duke the brother of Alexander Sarr the first round pick of the Wizards,,. ?

One's French, one's Italian. Dame is not related to Alex in any way

Alex Sarr is the younger brother of Olivier Sarr, the 7-foot former UK forward who played with the Wildcats in the 2020-21 season.
