Agreed. I think Bargo will get a shot at 1B and LF and Backus will be in the mix in LF as well. Lawless will see action at C and perhaps even at 1B well. Levi Clark will be in the mix at DH and will provide depth at C. Sharp will also compete for playing time in RF and LF as well. Lots of depth and competition for sure especially at 1B, LF, and DH.

Little different than what I was expecting. Abernathy News is exciting. Expected Fischer in the OF with AA at SS and Curley at 3B. Perry in the lead at 1st is a fun development as well. Seems like we have a lot of competition to go!

Indeedā€”lots of competition and depth for sure. Both Ariel Antigua and Dalton Bargo missed most of Fall ball with injuries. With that said, I donā€™t see (barring injuries) any open infield spots except 1B. I suspect Bargo will challenge Perry at 1B with Antigua being a late inning defensive replacement at SS or 2B. Bargo is so versatileā€”he can play both corner infield and outfield positions.
PS Abernathy is going to be a stud!

Is Antigua going to be happy with that role or do we believe he is a possible transfer??

I suspect the lineup at the end of the regular season is going to look far different than at the beginning.

Even in 2024, we had C-mo at SS.

I think some young guys are going to get every chance to shine like Curley did last year.

Some of the younger guys will be waiting a year, unless some others decide to move on. 40 man roster will see a lot them being red shirted or some moving on, since you have 50 plus fighting for roster spots. There is around 25 to 30 players from last year returning, counting the ones that red shirted. Be interesting to see the actual roster once it is released.

I don't see how he can be mad with anyone. This is 2 falls in a row that he has been hurt so he puts himself behind even though it is not intentional. Coaches are going to go with the confirmed not the maybe.

So a player can redshirt and not count against the 40?

By ā€œback,ā€ does that mean 100% or just starting to pitch in games in short outings?

Not verified yet, but it seems that JJ Garcia will be leaving the baseball program and has entered the transfer portal. The roster will need to be at 40 for the 2025 season. They were around 52 at the end of Fall Ball.

Iā€™ve taken the Fall Ball rosters (and assigned #s) and updated the projected 2025 roster. Iā€™m simply using an educated guess for projected starters and who ā€œWill Beā€ on the final roster as itā€™s obviously subject to change based on Winter conditioning, ā€œFreezeā€ Training in Jan/Feb, and injuries. Of course some will decide to transfer (such as JJ Garcia and Cole Eaton (TCU). Others will be placed at preferred JUCOs, redshirted, decide D1 baseball isnā€™t for them, or politely told they arenā€™t a good fit.
