2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

Yeah, I don't think coaches were as interested in Sawchuk as fans were. He's yet to come close to what he was as a redshirt freshman, and even last season gave way to the younger backs late in the season. Maybe he erupts again at some point, but he hasn't been the same player since his strained quad in 2024, even when he was healthy last year.
I like the Tulane guy a lot. And he seems to have some receiving chops, which we sorely missed this year from the RB position.

On the DT situation, maybe the staff likes what they have in the young talent and with just Gilliam. Hype has always said they look for culture as much as as talent fit. Granted, I’m sure they’d like 2 more and by not willing to stretch on pay tells me they like the young guys. The freshman class last year was stacked with talent.
Which is why I believe we struck out on DT recruiting. The young talent signed last year gave coaches leverage in negotiating with portal players. If coaches didn’t have that leverage then I think they would have came with higher offers and signed a couple of dudes

Hey guys longtime lurker I think Ive only made three posts. I'm very quiet and shy but the recruiting forum feels like my second family. Hope I can get the courage up to post more. Very excited what we are bringing in on defense. Have faith in hype that the offense will be ok. Just wanted to say hi to all and hope you guys are well
I hope you are encouraged to post more often, because everybodies opinion matters. Even the crazy and uninformed opinions. The only ones that dont belong are the argumentative posts where someone is determined they are right and everyone else is wrong!

We went to the playoff with a QB that had started 1 game the prior season (Cheez it bowl). Defense and run game got us there. I trust Heup with QB’s and offense. Just needs a good defense.
We don’t have a Sampson or wright, and our defense will be completely new, which I love. I’m just saying i would be more surprised to be good than to struggle next year .

I think we would have pursued some if they had a good value proposition. None made sense to overpay with our existing room.

2nd request for clarification. Can we still pursue grad transfers at end of session? Might know more about our room then OR find a bargain.

Not a clue what the new rules did to this window.

We are about to crack some offenses and scramble eggs
I know dude. Pretty much every shortcoming on last year's defense has been addressed. Poor tackling? New coach emphasizes physicality in practice. Bad angles? New DC invented a drill that perfects taking angles and filling gaps. Horrendous safety play? Bring in a safeties coach who is considered to be the best safeties coach in the country by many. Not enough beef on the line? We bring in the number one edge rusher and his 315 lb teammate, and new coach emphasizes huge athletic guys at DL which we have in spades (Dye, Campbell, Hobbs, Robinson, Utley)
Secondary in general struggling? Completely overhaul the secondary with guys who have a good amount of experience with guys with a lot of eligibility left.

Cherry on top: our best linebacker in 10 years comes back for his senior year to pair with the best LB from our new DC's last team and a garden of Eden of young athletic talent in that room.

I think people are going to be shocked by how much different this defense is going to look than last years.

Robinson is not good enough against the run to hold up against elite teams like UGA. Hobbs is a SDE and not a DT in a lot of defenses. We’re too light overall. Yes, I expect Robinson and Campbell to be pushing 315, but we need 1-2 more guys who are at least 315-335 with experience.

Both posters make a good point about Robinson's game and I think ultimately Robinson is a good player but he is at his most effective rushing the pass. He gets swallowed up too often in the run game to be a full time starter. I liked seeing him in our pass rush packages last season and assume we'll continue that trend this year. Perhaps some SDE reps in big body packages?

We need another BIG body at DT (6'2-6'3" ~335 please) that can take on blocks so this newly minted (elite..?) LB group can get to work. We've got some young guys that fit the profile but would like to see us add another 1 or 2 older DT's. House & Campbell are hovering around 310, but 335 and 310 are very different.

This thread is on life support. I used to check in every 20-30 minutes and have 8-10 pages to read full of emotional highs and lows, speculations, staff firings, poster on poster violence, Yeti porn, and insider bashings. I'm not sure we've moved past 3 pages in one day. I feel a little depressed!

Quick...somebody make up a rumor so we can get rolling again!
