2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

Im honestly not sure adding a DL is as urgent as we think, we have the #’s, just not experience

SDE: Weathersby/Dye

DT: Robinson/campbell/gilliam

DT: Hobbs/utley/house

WDE: Coleman/norman/Gass
Looks good to me. Not sure why folks are screaming for more DT. Campbell, Utley, and House should all take a leap, and be ready to contribute meaningful snaps

I posted this in the Brien Taylor thread, but thought I'd post it here too. Maybe @Stoerner Fumbles or @Ericvol2096 or @SoonerAndVol might weigh in.

I went back and looked at Brien Taylor's game logs.

In 2024, he played in 9 games, which included a bowl game.

I wonder if the argument for another year is going to involve the new redshirt rule, which allows a player to maintain his redshirt while participating in up to 9 games. Perhaps his team is saying it should apply retroactively to current players' past seasons. If so, I think they may have a solid argument.
I don’t know the answer, but assume there’s a plan if they brought him in. Like you, I considered the possibility that players could be grandfathered into the new redshirt rule, but don’t know that to be true.

Beck graduated two years ago and is still playing college ball at Maimi
Because there are higher degrees. That clip does have Beck talking about his masters program, and if Aguilar were to play again a stipulation of doing so would be working on a masters or doctorate degree. Beck's situation isn't particularly bizarre, and a lot of work for higher degrees doesn't involve attending class three days a week. I'm also not sure 23-year-old Beck, who is finishing his sixth season using a redshirt and COVID exemption, is the best comparison for soon to be 25-year-old Aguilar who has used up all avenues including the COVID exemption and is petitioning for an eighth year of eligibility.

But let's run with that logic. Aguilar should have graduated three years ago. Yeah, probably safe to assume he should have graduated, as was the original point of my reply. At this point, Aguilar should be well on his way to either a doctorate or second masters.

It wasn't until it was. Injuries at the top of the depth chart made it an issue, but losing two of your three best corners would likely have that effect on most rosters.
Should we lose our 1 transfer we would be back to dudes that couldn't get it done last year and freshmen.

Playing with fire IMO.

They’ll all take a leap with a better strength program. We’ll see if that ends up being the case.
We had guys going down left and right and we looked physically outmatched at times, so I think better is likely. How much better is the unknown, but something was clearly amiss to have all those injuries and struggles.

Assuming gmac is what we believe - swap us and PSU

I'm gonna say no, but that's mainly an experience thing. PSU brought along half the Iowa State roster and they're probably going to be Indiana old next year. I'll give them the edge on experience alone.

It is urgent. If Robinson is starting we are in trouble.
Robinson had better PFF rating last year than Hobbs, Dye, Utley, or House. PFF only 1.5 points below Moi with more sack yards and a forced fumble, granted mostly early in the season against Syracuse and UAB. Could be a big contributor, 6-6 300 and will hopefully put on a little more weight and be around 310-315.

On the DT situation, maybe the staff likes what they have in the young talent and with just Gilliam. Hype has always said they look for culture as much as as talent fit. Granted, I’m sure they’d like 2 more and by not willing to stretch on pay tells me they like the young guys. The freshman class last year was stacked with talent.

Yes and that team was middle of the pack at best. I think whatever Indiana has is super unique.

Is De'Rail Sims a good recruiter? I do not mean coach because we've maximized RB talent but strictly as a recruiter.

I feel that as a team that has been highly successful running the ball during Heupel era, we seem to miss on big RB recruits/transfers. I was excited for Seldon but he transferred and I had hopes for Lewis until I saw he doesn't have the vision/feel for the game.

Thoughts?

I don't necessarily disagree, but are we certain that Tennessee is prepared to make a leap into the top 15? They didn't get a lot older, and got younger in key areas like the defensive line and quarterback, at least based on what we know today.

For the record, in graduate school there is a filler class, usually given the number 500 (Master's thesis work) or 600 (Doctoral thesis work). This is not an actual class. It is just a time slot to remain enrolled while you independently work toward your thesis or dissertation.

If you are in Carson's situation, I imagine he just enrolls in those classes every semester with zero intention of actually graduating. That's just my assumption though.

Robinson is not good enough against the run to hold up against elite teams like UGA. Hobbs is a SDE and not a DT in a lot of defenses. We’re too light overall. Yes, I expect Robinson and Campbell to be pushing 315, but we need 1-2 more guys who are at least 315-335 with experience.

9-3 is my realistic prediction. I would like the playoffs, but don’t see it unless Joey gets approved and that’s unlikely.

Buttttt I’m fine with it mostly because we got some dudes that have multiple years.

Chaz, Norman, Gilliam, Lane, Moss, Javin, Ory, etc. those dudes will pay off more the following season. Then add in Robinson, Dye, Campbell, Perlotte, Spillman, Redmond back as well.

Hard to say, although perfect feasible. Regardless, he functionally needs to be enrolled in a graduate program. Whether or not he's handling what he should be academically is an NCAA matter, and again probably best we not throw too many stones because we invariably use the exact same loophole.

Thoughts are wait and see if he gets DGG.

Was never gonna get a big name this portal cycle. Bishop is RB1 no matter how much some don’t like it.
