The way the line got pushed around last year... then too lose as many as we did from that and just add 1 DT too that I dont think is too smart... I know the young guys will be a year older and stronger but im not risking anything afyer what I seen last year.Im honestly not sure adding a DL is as urgent as we think, we have the #’s, just not experience
SDE: Weathersby/Dye
DT: Robinson/campbell/gilliam
DT: Hobbs/utley/house
WDE: Coleman/norman/Gass
They’re comparable to us in terms of number of students, it’s just that their alumni support was understandably weighted more towards basketball and other sports up until now.Maybe they suddenly got a bandwagon group of fans but they sold Atlanta out. It was 95% Indiana fans there. They’re no Vandy.
I think this is great perspective. And I think why they want the right, older dude. Really think we good with just 1 dude. Would be great to get 2. But, really need another older proven body.Im honestly not sure adding a DL is as urgent as we think, we have the #’s, just not experience

Maybe Miami s&c coach Ervin Young . He was at Tennessee before and Vanderbilt too and went to college at Cumberland in Tennessee and was at Missouri too. seems to like being in Tennessee.I feel like it’s the Indiana guy for strength coach. Great hire if true. Still don’t know how we didn’t kick the tires with Cochran though (if we didn’t)
I've considered the same possibility. His JUCO game logs also have him playing fewer than nine each season, so depending on the wording in any new redshirt rule he could have a sound argument.I posted this in the Brien Taylor thread, but thought I'd post it here too. Maybe @Stoerner Fumbles or @Ericvol2096 or @SoonerAndVol might weigh in.
I went back and looked at Brien Taylor's game logs.
In 2024, he played in 9 games, which included a bowl game.
I wonder if the argument for another year is going to involve the new redshirt rule, which allows a player to maintain his redshirt while participating in up to 9 games. Perhaps his team is saying it should apply retroactively to current players' past seasons. If so, I think they may have a solid argument.
Mostly underclassmen. Will they be strong enough to hold up vs. an SEC schedule of older offensive linemen?Im honestly not sure adding a DL is as urgent as we think, we have the #’s, just not experience

That’s a new proposal from the coaches association but has not been voted on or passed at the NCAA level.

I would probably also point out that the entire point of making changes to the strength and conditioning program is to get these guys stronger and better able to contribute, so we probably shouldn't assume they'll definitively be the same as a year ago. Robinson was forced into a tough spot, one he wasn't really ready for. Physically, he still looks to me like he needs to add another 15 pounds or so. Hopefully we see the entire team make major strides in S&C this off-season.I would assume he doesn’t think Robinson will start and this is just a list of names. Gilliam won’t be 3rd string
