2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

Only tough road game is A&M.
@South Carolina feels like a classic dicy matchup if Sellers has a bounce back year.

Our schedule looks more manageable if Joey is here. We would be more stable than most teams. If no Joey, we’re a huge wild card depending on how good we are at QB, just like the rest of our schedule. But I love our chances to win close games if our defense is much improved, and I’m sensing that it will be.

Arion coming back sort of shifted my outlook more than I expected. He’s had to play the mike and we haven’t been good enough around him to get him out of that spot. That was the plan in 2024 until Pili went down. He’s been really good for us when healthy, but I doubt the Mike spot is where he would thrive. I’m really excited for a healthier, older, stronger 4th year Arion who doesn’t have to think so much. Amare will take a lot of pressure off him.

My first year "paying attention" was '85. I thought the way we dominated Miami, we were a new dynasty. Lol.

A win or loss now doesn't have a lot of staying power...except for Bama '22. That one still brings a smile. 10-15-22-49-52 😃
I believe my first game was in '85 or 86. The first game I remember, vs ND in 1990.

Was sitting in nosebleeds when Raghib Ismail housed a kickoff return. He is the fastest player ive ever seen live.

You started paying attention the year I was born, but I generally carry the same mindset. No sense living and dying every Saturday. It's a game. I'm in it for the fun and love of the sport/Vols. Got more than enough to worry about without letting my escape become an extra source of stress.
Living and dying only comes into play if its a close game against Ga, Al or fl

On Big Orange Sunday, Mathews has Hyams on as a guest. Today Hyams addressed this by saying it is difficult for a year 1 WR to produce in Heup's offense. So even though there are some incredibly talented freshmen in the room, the hope is Radarious, Smith, or the [guy who scored a special teams touchdown in the MCB] step up.
Those two need to make a quilt together.

Name checks out.

I think we can take away 3 things about the transfers:

1: CJH was gonna test the waters for QB but is clearly comfortable with GMAC.

2: Jim Knowles clearly saw tape of our defense, and decided he needed to upgrade at several positions.

3: CJH is clearly happy with the WR we already had on the roster.

If we do get the S&C coach from Indiana…would any players follow him? I know they generally don’t carry the same weight as position coaches, but they do have good relationships with players…

Cool story about Rocket Ismail…when I was in college (maybe 1999 or 2000) I was at a Christian conference for college students (UT CRU) during Christmas. Ismail gave one of the talks as a keynote speaker (was a great talk). When he was introduced he came sprinting in from the back of the room. Sounds cheesy but it was actually awesome.
