I will say not surprised on draft evaluation. He can not cover anyone. He is not a rush threar. The position has changed. He tackles yes but not good in space. I never really the enamor on him overall. Does a couple of good but very blah on some. Lb and safety on our defense was beyond bad this year.He wasn't a fit for JK defense. Im sure he was encouraged to leave, so he's not a VFL?
Yeah people are in denial if they think he would be fine in year 6 with that record. This is not 80s football where you just get 10 to 15 years no matter what. Not a good look as well to be in year 6 and have two freshmen QBs in a 9 game SEC schedule. You’re FOS if you think Heupel will be safe at 6-6 next year lmao.
Agreed, TV announcers would always gush about him and I’m like I just don’t see it.I will say not surprised on draft evaluation. He can not cover anyone. He is not a rush threar. Yup and I’ll never be content with that while other teams can have instant success in year 1Yeah people are in denial if they think he would be fine in year 6 with that record. Wait, so we’re fahrin’ Danny now, too, over some Twitter posts? This thread needs to die, quickly. The best AD we've had in a long time bar was set pretty low to begin with, but
if you don't find his public behavior troubling over the last few weeks, then you just don't want to see it.
Negatively interacting with fans on social media...bad look.
Blaming other teams for cheating while we "play by the rules"...bad look.
Basically conceding the 2026 season because "we play by the rules"...bad look.
And I'd ask you, outside of effectively pricing the average fan out of Tennessee sports, what has he done as an AD that has impressed you? Serious question. Josh Heupel has been good, not great. Kim Caldwell has been OK. Josh Elander, we will see...too early to know. Those are his three big hires, so far. One (Heupel) was a layup given their connections and our desperation. Elander was already here. Caldwell is the only one he's really had to search for and she hasn't lit the world on fire.
I know we are supposed to be overly impressed because he's the highest paid AD in the country, but outside of fundraising at the fans' expense, I don't know what he's done from an administrative standpoint to deserve your admiration.
