2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

The best AD we've had in a long time bar was set pretty low to begin with, but
if you don't find his public behavior troubling over the last few weeks, then you just don't want to see it.

Negatively interacting with fans on social media...bad look.

Blaming other teams for cheating while we "play by the rules"...bad look.

Basically conceding the 2026 season because "we play by the rules"...bad look.

And I'd ask you, outside of effectively pricing the average fan out of Tennessee sports, what has he done as an AD that has impressed you? Serious question. Josh Heupel has been good, not great. Kim Caldwell has been OK. Josh Elander, we will see...too early to know. Those are his three big hires, so far. One (Heupel) was a layup given their connections and our desperation. Elander was already here. Caldwell is the only one he's really had to search for and she hasn't lit the world on fire.

I know we are supposed to be overly impressed because he's the highest paid AD in the country, but outside of fundraising at the fans' expense, I don't know what he's done from an administrative standpoint to deserve your admiration.
I did research on it last year and every single program had improved since DW took over except maybe one or two. It is how we won our first All Sports trophy. We won it three years in a row. We made it to a new years 6 bowl for the first time in years and also qualified for our first playoff trip. We qualified for two Elite Eights, Lady Vols softball made it back to the semifinals, and We won the baseball World Series.

It’s not only about coaching hires but the support that you give each program to be successful. College sports has priced out the average fan… Not DW.

DW is trying to be college football's great reformer. And it's admirable. He's hoping to push his collective bargaining plan. But doing so is going to be frustrating to Tennessee fans who just want to see us win and play for championships. The NCAA has chosen to turn a blind eye to all these other programs that are cheating their asses off. We're just pissing into a hurricane. "Doing things the right way" isn't going to stop other programs from doing things the way they are, and it seems clear the NCAA is not going to take action. So be prepared for some tough times ahead. I don't think we'll completely suck or anything, but it's gonna be tougher for us to make the playoffs because we're acting at a competitive disadvantage.

You know… If Gmac sucks, others on the team know it. Our WRs surely know it. But none of them are hitting the portal. They all seem content rolling with Gmac. Wonder why?
Now that type of reasoning will not be allowed here on VN. We must panic and yield pitchforks at all costs.
