2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

Does Mensah not know the wording and legality of his own NIL contract? Why would his agent/he work towards going into the portal or contacting us with tape if they knew what would be involved in him transferring and what legal rights Duke may have if he did? Or do they know and are hoping someone can gather enough cash to pay off Duke and still leave enough for Mensah to make it worth it? Weird.
I think he's been given info from lawyers. Something likely along the lines of we'll get an injunction and delay the process until he's drafted and out of college. Just a thought.

Thamel tweeting about Mensah too. Definitely something going on here.

I want to believe we’ll make a run at him but just can’t see us outbidding Miami if that offer is real. That’s a crazy deal that you ultimately cant fully fault someone for taking.

What I can confidently say: I'm sure Trippie will be very excited about the possibility.

It's not a matter of outbidding Miami, it's Duke releasing him as well. I doubt Duke does that within the Conference.

We see in the case of Miami the problem by living exclusively on the portal. They are at the point that they are willing to compromise all integrity and pay upwards of 7 mil for a QB because the have run their course. Absolute desperation.
The portal is like crack, really amazing for a while and before you know it your a junkie living under a bridge.

I've learned a lesson in fantasy sports that are auction style, specifically baseball. At least in leagues I've been in, the top guys always require some sticker-shock value to get. So my tendency was to avoid those guys and kind of wait for the next tier where I could get more value. The problem is, once the top guys are taken, the owners who didn't get one of the elite superstars are now desperate, and you end up in bidding wars for 2nd or 3rd tier players that drive the price right up close to the top tier players.

My point: it feels like we should have taken Sorsby at $5M if it's true that $5M would have put him on our roster. Now we're in a situation where we're either going to have to overpay for a lower rated QB or just hope another JA (or JA himself) falls in our lap again. I think we're underestimating how lucky we were to land a guy as good as Aguilar that late in the game.

It should also be noted I have no idea what I'm talking about because I have no clue what guy out there does or doesn't fit our gameplan...

My inner 5 year old says the kid from OK st left because we are grabbing Salesi.

Not true, but it should be.
Someone posted he basically had no NIL , just basically given the opportunity to come play.

So if true not surprised he went elsewhere.

Never heard anything with respect to Sorsby being interested in UT for any amount of money.

I wish we were in Miami's shoes. Playing for a championship and signing Mensah? You can take every bit of integrity I have left, I would have zero shame if I were a fan of them and would laugh at all the broke teams bargain bin shopping (us).
