I just don't think Mathis is a guy to count on immediately. He's going to be a true sophomore and was listed at 285 - so neither experienced nor big. He's basically Campbell and Utley and House, only lower rated/less recruited than all of them.

I don't mind adding him to the talent pipeline at the position, but IMO we need one more big and old guy who's ready to play immediately.

We never have. Even Witten was greatly underutilized as a receiver at UT in my opinion. Using TE's well really opens up an offense.
