2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

Just to recap guys who are supposed to be coming in per AP in the coming days

Omillio Agard CB Wisconsin
Pearce Spurlin TE Georgia
Aaron Scott CB UGA
Donovan Haslam IOL WV

Trying to get Makhi Frazier RB Michigan state to come in on Saturday but Indiana a factor there
I thought cb Scott was Ohio State?

Even if they do "like" GMAC, a third QB is a must for depth purposes. Trying to manage a 9-game SEC conference schedule with only two QBs is the type of mismanagement that backfires quickly
I think this is why an FCS guy makes sense. Someone that is looking for an opportunity to come in and compete for a starting job at the FBS level and also make some decent money in the process. Throw a couple hundred k at Cardell Williams and see if he can take the job in the spring.

Breakdown of Tennessee Football’s defensive portal movement

Currently, Tennessee has lost 20+ players to the transfer portal, a number that includes walk-on’s, one dismissed player and two who were not on Tennessee’s roster this fall.
Below is a look at Tennessee’s transfer portal movement on the defensive side of the football.

Tennessee Defensive Line: More Work to Do

Retained (8)Departed (7)Added (3)
Christian Gass (LEO)Caleb Herring (LEO)Chaz Coleman (EDGE)
Tyree Weathersby (DE)Jordan Ross (LEO)Xavier Gilliam (DT)
Mariyon Dye (DE)Kellen Lindstrom (LEO)Jordan Norman (EDGE)
Daevin Hobbs (DT)Emmanuel Okoye (LEO)
Nathan Robinson (DT)Jaydin Lofton (DE)
Ethan Utley (DT)Josh Schnell (DT)
Isaiah Campbell (DT)Jamal Wallace (DT)
Charles House (DT)
Incoming Freshmen (10): Carter Gooden, Jordan Carter, Zach Groves, Hezekiah Harris, Dereon Albert, JJ Finch, Kedric Golston II, Darryl Rivers, CJ Edwards, Nic’Quayvion Simmons
One of the biggest positions of movement for the Vols has been the defensive line. Tennessee also lost key veterans Dominic Bailey, Bryson Eason, Jaxson Moi and Joshua Josephs to graduation. The incoming freshmen class is large and a couple will absolutely be counted on next fall.
Tennessee has added a couple of priority targets from Penn State and an underrated pick up from Tulane, but there’s more work to be done up front. The Vols must add another tackle and would take another defensive end, if it made sense.

Tennessee Linebackers: Maybe the Most Important Get

Retained (6)Departed (1)Added (1)
Jordan BurnsBrendan AnesAmare Campbell
Jaedon Harmon
Edwin Spillman
Jeremiah Telander
Jadon Perlotte
Ben Bolton
Incoming Freshmen (2): TJ White, Brayden Rouse
NOTE: Arion Carter declared for NFL Draft
Tennessee hasn’t seen a ton of movement at linebacker and that could be due to William Inge being retained by Josh Heupel and new defensive coordinator Jim Knowles. At this time, there’s just one loss and one addition. The addition was huge as Amare Campbell is ultra productive and knows the defensive scheme, having played for Knowles last year at Penn State.

Tennessee Secondary: TONS of Movement & MORE to Come

Retained (7)Departed (4)Added (4)
Ty Redmond (CB)Rickey Gibson (CB)Kayin Lee (CB)
Tre Poteat (CB)Marcus Gorree (CB)Qua Moss (STAR)
Tim Merrtitt (CB)Boo Carter (STAR)Dejuan Lane (S)
Edrees Farooq(S)Kaleb Beasley (S)TJ Metcalf (S)
Dylan Lewis (S)
Sidney Walton (S)
Incoming Freshmen (7): Joel Wyatt, Zaydyn Anderson, Javonte Smith, Jowell Combay, Luke Thompson, KJ McClain, Jamyan Theodore
NOTE:
Jermod McCoy (CB), Colton Hood (CB) declared for NFL Draft. Boo Carter was dismissed during 2025 season.
The secondary is another work-in-progress as Tennessee needs to add a couple of more from the portal. It absolutely must add another cornerback. New secondary coach and co-defensive coordinator Anthony Poindexter and corners coach Michael Hunter Jr. will revamp the backend that is set to lose a total of four starters. A fresh coat of paint is needed as the secondary struggled in 2025, just as the Tennessee defense did overall.

If GMAC is the guy, then great. I hope he’s ready, coached up, and kills it.

However, it’s a huge ask for a RSFr to come in with no experience in this league and play well, especially with the schedule we have.

Missing on a sure thing in the portal isn’t the end of the world but it’s really on the staff now to get it done. Right or wrong, there are no mulligans in year 6 even with a young QB.

His (G-Mac) situation would be no different then when we turned the reigns over to Nico his Redshirt Freshman year. I think the clear and obvious difference is the defense and Sampson not being the backfield. We also talk about how much better the offense could have been if Nico hit the deep ball. I'm not suggesting G-Mac is going to produce the same numbers or even better than Nico, but if we continue to shore up the defense who says we cant go 9-3? I think we are better offensively minus the RB than we were in 24.

Sure thing? Really? There is no such thing. Except maybe the trends of some posters.

He’ll definitely be playing behind a better OLine. Also, some real weapons at receiver and TE. Davis should ball out this year. We have to find a difference maker at RB. No offense to Deshaun, but you need a guy that forces defenses to account for them. It would actually benefit Deshaun as well to have a high quality counterpart to split reps.

FWIW AP said George MacIntyre had all of the returning wide receivers meet him in south Florida to hang out and throw balls for a few days before they have to go back to class. Gotta say, kid's doin it right
Code for “We missed on all top quarterback options, GMac is the man”. Let’s hope this pans out 🤞

Listening to AP yesterday talking about George made me pretty optimistic. He said he's more than capable of making the throws, but can he hold up to the physicality of the league is the question. George knows that's a "weakness" as well. He's 197 pounds now according to Price. I won't pretend to know what it really takes to gain 15-20 pounds of good weight, but you gotta think if we got Sanders from 275 to 310 in 8 months, would think George gaining 15 pounds of mass in 8 months would be very doable.

I heard it too, how much did george weigh when he arrived on campus? I thought he was already 190ish when he enrolled.

Desean* had almost 1100 yards rushing this year splitting carries with 2 other backs (avg 6 ypc, 16 TDs). He's absolutely a difference maker, and he'll have a game breaker counterpart in Daune Morris backing him up this year. All we need in an RB from the portal is an experienced back that can provide some relief for RB1 and RB2. IMO

Two completely diff bodies in mac and sanders. Cant compare them like it would be a easy thing to do.

Long live Gmac the small. I keep saying it over and over: we do not need a gamebreaker at QB. We need a guy who knows the system, who can dink and dunk, and hand the ball off to Bishop.
We need a guy who can dink and dunk? Not at all what this offense is built around. Sure we need a guy who can hit just enough of the intermediate stuff but he’s got to be accurate pushing the ball down the field. And Gmac may be that guy we will see

Sure you can. Sanders already had a lot of muscle and fat, which would make it harder to gain even more good weight. George is at square one. Again, I'm not a nutritionist but it's not some insurmountable task to gain 15 pounds in 8 months. Ask any freshman in college lol
