2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

We were in the hunt with Leavitt til last night. He's obviously played teams off one another for a couple of weeks, and we tapped out. I feel like it's less about the money and more about how there kept being one more round of negotiations. I don't know what's next, but do have faith that they have been very lean forward with everyone we have wanted to far, and money has not stopped us.
“We tapped out because of bidding” “chris low says we tapped out at 4 mil” but also “money hasnt stopped us”…..

I wish we had another (known) fallback option besides Pribula, but frankly, I wasn’t convinced that spending big for Leavitt was a good idea.

Really hope we get good news on Joey or that we might talk someone else into the portal.
I firmly believe if we end up with Pribula he, or one of the young uns will be better than Nico. It will be different than Joey but can still be effective. Obviously, Joey would be preferred because he’s known in our offense.

Hope for Joey is our best shot now. Just no Pribula…

It's all going to be okay.

I trust that Heupel will get production out of the QB position.

It may or may not be elite production this season. While Leavitt seemingly gives the highest possibility of it, that's not to say one of the QBs on the roster still can't give it, somehow Joey A gets to return, or a transfer QB is brought in and wins the job.

I, too, am out on Pribula. Have followed him since his high school days since I'm local to where he grew up. Hasn't developed as a throwing QB in college and may not. But, if the head coach believes enough that he can get production, then I'm inclined to trust that. Even Joe Milton's 'bad' year resulted in 20 TDs and only 5 INTS.

I also wonder if there are anymore QBs enter the portal during the dead period this week just to see if they can negotiate better deals before returning to their schools. With the portal closing at the end of the week, I bet we'll see a few more entries in.

The way the defense has been constructed during this portal season coupled with Heupel's track record on QBs is enough for me to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Sampson and the ‘24 defense ain’t walking through that door
I think JK defense will actually be better. He's brought in his guys from each level. It will be their 2nd year. If we get another good RB. QB won't matter much. We just need someone that takes care of the ball, and is accurate deep.

I always have to laugh when people bring up that we made the playoffs with Nico. We had the most talent on defense that we’ve had in quite some time that season. Deepest D-line in the last 20 years. Pearce, Josephs, ONL, Thomas and crazy depth behind them. Even if our defense could live up to that, (which seems very unrealistic let’s face it) no guarantee we are even close to the playoffs with a MUCH harder schedule this year.

Also, not having the right QB and someone who isn’t accurate will never have us contending. How quick people forget, but that year with Nico our offense had zero points at half time in THREE games for the first time in history. We’ve seen how bad our offense can look if you don’t have the right guy, and also have seen how unstoppable it is with the right guy. Our goal should be compete for championships and not just settle and hope for the best

Have we kicked the tires on Eli Holstein. Seems like a name that woul makes sense. Older guy with some experience that can come in and compete against the younger QBs.
He pretty much lost his job half way through the season. Yes he got injured, but he was cleared to play 2 weeks later and was on the bench.

If he's depth/competition for G-Mac, then I guess it makes sense. I'd rather aim higher though.

Any clue who we are leaning toward?
