I would be Leary about the Clark kid. Not bad numbers for a freshman, but that’s a huge jump up

I just cannot see us riding with two Freshman QBs with 0 college starts between them and a 9 game SEC schedule. We could end up losing a lot of games and also destroying the confidence of one, or both, of our talented young QBs by asking them to carry the team. Yes, we did it with Nico, but we had a very good OL and defense and didn't have to ask too much of him. Of course even then he wasn't very good through long stretches of the season.

The problem is that there is no spring portal so this is our only shot at a starting quality QB. If we get into spring and have glaring issues on the OL or defense, or if both QBs stink up spring camp, there is no out.

I would rather bring in a two year guy proven guy and risk losing gmac. In this environment, he might end up portaling end of season anyways. The coaches have to get the best players they can, while they can.
OK, that's a strong argument.

Also for the strength coach - AP Says he is watching Derek Owings who is the strength coach at Indiana. Was at JMU with Coach Cig as well. Would be a homerun TBH

Owings also was at UCF in 2018 when Heupel was there as an assistant strength coach.

Owings is already a top 5 paid strength coach so it would require lots of $ I am sure

Someone tell the staff to get Etta and Keeley on campus. Joseph and little jr are good looking safety transfers too.
Has been contact from Etta's people. His side is moving slower than others, may be still trying to guage exact NIL evals & what will be there asking price. Visit is definitely possible but also possible UT wraps up other guys & moves on

Not related but staff feels Chaz Coleman recognizes UT as being the best football fit, but now down to whether he chooses biggest bag or best overall situation

I would also add that if we chose to roll with the freshman and a warm body and we lost 6 games and looked like ass, every single poster that called for us to roll with the freshman and a warm body would be burning mattresses calling for CJH and company to be run out of town for not getting a starting QB out of the portal.

He was a grad assistant at Utah State when Heupel was there and Heupel gave him his first strength and conditioning job at Central Florida

Lower tier guy I’d love to have honestly would be that Montana St QB, I think he would put up good numbers here.

Seen random chatter about LSU possibly getting a visit though, not sure how true that is lol
