I assume your 2mm figure isn’t directly about White, but VT doesn’t strike me as a school with a ton of money (relative to the P4 big guys, at least). Are some of these mid-level schools just dumping all/most of their NIL in on random, high level players? That just feels like a poor use of their funds. Using White as an example - VT isn’t 1 elite DB away from being good and that’s not a position that’s gonna be a magnet for others to commit or gain momentum. Some random schools just poaching 1 or 2 guys is crazy to me and doesn’t make a ton of sense.

I mean they hired James Franklin who I am sure asked for an amount of money from the boosters to rework the roster. It’s not like the ACC is a powerhouse either, Duke won the title this year and all you need is to be a ranked conference title winner to get into the playoffs.

The disconnect is the same as it has been since the portal first began. Our coaching staff doesn't value every "shiny new player" entering the portal as a must-have at any cost like the moran posters on VolNation.

What are you saying is the proposed plan? We're allegedly going to spend big on another corner to make him a starter and then...go into the season with Ty Redmond, one good portal player and a bunch of 3 star freshmen and scrubs?

We need like three more good corners, whatever they cost. We have nothing there.
