I have a feeling the QB we get is gonna rustle all kinds of Jimmies on here. @TrippieRedd will likely not be happy with who we get.Anyone reported if there seems to be any interest in the JMU QB?
-bob_volsGeorge has gained weight since the season has been over. He’s close to 200 lbs. now. He doesn’t have a medical condition. In talking to some people today, he has made some real strides during bowl preparation and there’s a real belief he’s going to be a very good QB. What does that mean for next season? I think they swing big for a one year rental within reason financially. They are clearly going after Sorsby and trying with others as well. If they can’t land a guy that they think will make them a playoff contender then they’ll take someone to come in to compete with the likely hood of GMac possibly winning the job.
That's not what he said. I'm guessing closer to 3 million. You don't go hard after Sorsby to offer 1.5 million. Bob has mentioned we cap out at 3.5 for the right QBIn other words, if they can't get someone to take the job for 1.5 they're just gonna roll with GMac. Still hoping we can get JA another year.
I'll believe that when I see it. I dont think we'll ever find out what we're offering him because TT is likely gonna offer him stupid money. The number we offer then continues to drop with each prospect because there will continue to be someone who is desperate and more willing to pay bigger money than each person Is worth, which will ultimately end up with us taking a depth guy and it basically coming down to Gmac or FB, or holding hope that JA can get another year. Just how I see It.That's not what he said. I'm guessing closer to 3 million. You don't go hard after Sorsby to offer 1.5 million. Bob has mentioned we cap out at 3.5 for the right QB
What makes you think we won’t be the “desperate” one who pays more?I'll believe that when I see it. Theres nothing in the past that proves we will spend big for portal players though. We have on HS for sure. Now, Weve been lucky to hit on some guys in the portal that have panned out for us, but it wasnt because we went out and dropped a lot of cash either. Last year, we desperately needed to spend big money in the portal on defensive players and we didnt. And it absolutely bit us.I dont think they will be playing small at all
They cant afford to
Agreed Joey played much tougher competition this year and had less TO’s. He still threw a couple that were head scratchers but overall Joey didn’t cost us games like I thought he might.Give and take. He’s more of a gambler than those two were, which also gave us some jump balls to Brazzell and maybe Matthews. He had 4 less INT’s in essentially the same number of attempts the year before at App State. Also had 40 more completions, which is our system. You could also count at least 2 or 3 that went off hands- I recall at least one to Kitselman and Staley.
I would say 2 of the 4 games we lost, Joey made bad decisions that highly contributed to the loss. Not gonna fully say he cost us the game but he took us out of the Bama game (even though we likely still lose that game), and the OK game I might put a little more on him (I don’t hold the fumble against him).Agreed Joey played much tougher competition this year and had less TO’s. Joey wasn’t the same QB late. I blame Heupel. The offense went stagnant as the year progressed. Makes no sense as we had great receivers and emerging tight ends. I think inserting Sanders hurt OLine performance. Perry is superior. Sorry, but it’s a fact.I would say 2 of the 4 games we lost, Joey made bad decisions that highly contributed to the loss. I’ll end a good note though because overall he was great this season and his play in UGA should have won us the game if not for some soft defense and ridiculous bad luck on a FG
Lance Heard is the only one that comes to mindsTheres nothing in the past that proves we will spend big for portal players though. We have on HS for sure.
