2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

SEC schedule vs Big 12? Switch conferences and the stats switch as well. Not comparing apples to apples.

Conference or schedule is not a factor when it comes to QB development by an OC.

Hoover was a 3 star QB nobody. This isn’t like Briles had a 5 star or experienced QB coming to play in the Big 12 😂😂😂😂

It does when you have to play Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma compared to Houston, West Virginia, Cincinnati, etc.

Once again, Briles developed a nobody QB recruit into one of the most sought after QB’s in the portal who will get multiple millions for what he’s done. That’s very different from paying a guy millions for what he could be.

QB development ability doesn’t take conference as factor of relevance. If you can develop a QB at a SEC school or C-USA school, that’s ability. Not luck of the draw with scheduling.

Do you want Briles to be the QB coach or the offensive coordinator? Why are we only talking QBs? Our offense has been better than TCUs the last 2 years.

Dude was a top 10 WR in the league. Shut up and quit embarrassing yourself.
I like Travis Smith Jr and Radarius Jackson and freshman coming in. So, if he is asking for too much money , I would rather spend it somewhere else. I guess I should have explained it better. Yes I am aware he was top10 WR. last year. He was probably top 10 in drops also.

Matthews has a ton of talent and I can see him improving like Thornton Jr and Brazzell did after previous rough seasons. Like I said if he asks for too much money, I would let him walk and spend money elsewhere. But I am just a fan and don't know much.

Marcel Reed aka Josh Pate's Heisman pick

he is terrible every time i watch him play......dude has no idea whats going on out there. Has to be close to 20 turnovers this yr with the fumbles + INTs combined.
In a way, he's a lot like Beck. Feast or famine. No in between. He either like like a Heisman candidate or he looks like Nathan Peterman.

Just a reminder as we have discussed portal safeties, especially Jakobe.
Miami let 4 teams score over 20 this year and highest was 26 pts. None over 30.
Banks let 7 teams score 30+. Who u want your son to play for..
In 24, they gave up over 26 ppg while we gave up 17 ppg. This season they have 8 transfers on defense with 9 of 11 starters being juniors or seniors.

Why do you blame Banks only for those scores?

Why do I blame the DC for allowing 7 teams to score 30+, multiple qbs to have career days and finish the season giving up 300 yards rushing to Vandy? I bet u can figure it out. He was fired for it.
Technically, he didn’t allow 30+ to OU or Bama. Mississippi State game was tough for the defense, too. But the defense was poor overall. This team played some very poor complementary football at times when one side of the ball was playing well within the game.

Fair enough.

It was not all Banks fault though. The defense quit in the second half of the Vandy game. That’s on the players. You people need to start holding players more accountable now they are getting paid. No more blaming coaches for everything crap.

He was fired for his performance. Period. Of course players make plays or don’t geez it’s tiresome to have to explain to people how straight dumb it is to put your players in positions to not make plays. Coaching includes prep, motivation, scheme and not making every qb look like a Heisman candidate. If players quit playing for a coach, the coach has to answer for it every time as he’s not doing his job. It’s not a players fault when:
-you have your lb turn his back on the Los and run 10 yards on the other side of the sticks on 3rd and 3 in a one score game. Straight stupid.
-have your mlb matched up on a slot in man with no help
-drop your DT into coverage on 4th down allowing 1 v 1 on a freshman cb
-drop your best pass rusher into coverage to cover a rb wheel route 15 yards downfield
-show your hand or blitz early and never check out of it
-don’t spy a running qb allowing for multiple 3rd down conversions running
-have safeties guarding grass 25 yards from the Los on 3rd and 6
Etc etc etc. If you think those are great plans and players just don’t execute, we’ll add you to the list of people who have no idea what they are watching.

That is encouraging, we can go hunting for a nobody in the portal and let CJH do his thing for our 3rd QB and use that money elsewhere.

Coaches job is to motivate and coach the players up. They are paid hundreds of thousands or millions to do it.

I’m not sure what we need to do to hold them accountable. Should we start a new thread or send a strongly worded letter?
