2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

I didn't say Bishop was bad or mediocre. I said he was solid but he lacked SEC speed, which is true and it's part of the reason he didn't have any P4 offers.

I certainly want to keep Bishop but we also need to go back to the 3 headed monster at RB like we had with Wright, Sampson, and Small. Right now, it's a 1 headed monster.

He had 3 P4 offers from VA Tech (ACC), Michigan State (Big 10), & Purdue (Big 10).

No clue what your definition of SEC speed is and until he does pro day it's not clear what he's running now. Junior year of HS at TN for their camp he ran 4.55, but hand timed and over 3 years ago...

Not according to this article:

Bishop was committed to Coastal Carolina for his entire 2022 senior season. He hoped for a scholarship offer from a Power Four conference school that never came.... Two weeks before signing day, he decommitted from Coastal Carolina and ultimately announced he’d enroll at Tennessee as a preferred walk-on.

Also, his lack of top end speed has been pointed out plenty of times. Like every single game.

AP specifically mentioned Ginther and J. Heard as possible/likely portal guys on today's pod. Then talked about how Beasley got more run at the end of the year and how that might get him to think more about staying...
Beasley has been terrible. Replace him with a portal safety.

Lewis was mediocre. Morris and Baker are unproven and were not exactly highly rated recruits. 3

Bishop was solid, but he lacks SEC speed.

There is zero chance anyone watched this group of RBs play this year and thought it was a major strength for us.
The RB room was not as good as last years but it wasn’t terrible by any means. Bishop may lack SEC speed but he is 5th in the SEC in rushing. Sorry but that’s not mediocre. Lewis was banged up quite a bit and he is young. You are just assuming these guys
Won’t be good next year which is foolish.

I said I like Bishop and mentioned he was solid.

It's a fact that the RB room outside of Bishop was not good. Even when Lewis was healthy, he didn't perform very well. Morris and Baker didn't get much work but they didn't exactly tear it up when given the opportunity and they weren't super highly rated recruits to begin with

We need an elite rushing attack. And there is no reason to think this group behind Bishop is going to give us that.

When there is daylight, our RBs get the yards and then some. #1 is legit, and Lewis carries the mail. Baker runs better and harder than I expected. It will be a shame if we miss on L Bey, but we'll be all right.

Seems conflicting information, I will say 247 shows the same offer list as WBIR mentions.

Heupel can't afford a rebuild year, especially after this years results. He's got no business rebuilding in years 5 nor 6. If he's rebuilding in year 6, he's not the right guy in Knoxville.
Yep esp when every yr team in our league go to the portal and put together a pretty good defense. LSU did it this yr and their issue was the offense. Lane also did it at Ole Miss multiple times. Clark Lea as well.

Not taking the Bishop disrespect.

5th in SEC in total rushing yards with 983, the top 3 RBs all had 220 or more carries, Bishop just 163.
4th in SEC in yards per carry with 6.0
3rd in SEC in rushing TDS with 14, both RBs with more had at least 240 carries.

I do think we need to upgrade the RB room...but Bishop isn't why.
Bishop is really good. He needs some more help. Thomas and Lewis were good at times, mediocre at others. Bishop is your most complete back though, does everything fairly well

Farooq is athletic and fast but my God he is the worst tackler we have had on defense in years. He must get better or be replaced.
Bro.Edrees Farooq was #18 in the SEC in tackles…

71 tackles
2 Ints
4 forced fumbles
1 DTD
