The inherent issue with Taylor is he is in the boat of needing to be granted another year to play because current NCAA rules say he won't be. He never redshirted and played four years between Blinn and Florida, so he would be an awesome addition...if he's eligible. It's Joey Aguilar but on defense.well yeah thats why i phrased it that way
never know with them
I don't like the move.I mean, either QB from Colorado will need plenty of coaching. Just get someone in and competing. Best man wins. We're firmly beggars at this point, so we're past being picky.
Yes. Where were all three of those guys prior to Heupel? And where is Nico now that he left Heupel? He’s not a god, he can’t fix everything. But he’s definitely able to improve on field production.People keep calling Heupel "the QB whisperer". I'm not sure he improved Milton, Nico, or Aguilar. Not trying to trash the guy, I'm just not seeing where these guys got better. We complained all season about Milton's overthrows. Complained about Nico's inability to check down. And we complained about Joey's penchant for throwing INTs. Am I wrong?

Don’t you love how people always try and find the negative in everything I’d hate to know I lived my life like that smhThis can’t be a real post?
Do you remember how bad Joe was when he got here?
Nico couldn’t get past his 1st read and he made it to the playoffs with him
Joey had 3 months to get ready and led the SEC in passing
Goodness this fanbase….
Whether it's the system or the coaching, it's clear that QBs generally perform relatively well for Heupel. Milton had his best season under Heupel. Iamaleava had his best season to date with Heupel. Aguilar had his second best season against a better level of competition. I am not calling him the QB whisperer, but QBs certainly seem to thrive playing for him.People keep calling Heupel "the QB whisperer". I'm not sure he improved Milton, Nico, or Aguilar. Hooker wasn’t even a starter at VT and Heupel turned him into a Heisman candidate. Similar story with Joey. Nobody wanted him. Milton was also a backup after time with Heupel he ended up in the NFL.People keep calling Heupel "the QB whisperer". I'm not sure he improved Milton, Nico, or Aguilar. But is it Heupel is a "QB whisperer", or is it that his offense helps QBs look better? Maybe some consider those two the same? I think QB whisperer implies he fixes QBs, and I don't think he necessarily fixes them. I think his offense is simplified enough to make them look better than they are. This can’t be a real post?

Dylan Gabriel turned out ok also.Whether it's the system or the coaching, it's clear that QBs generally perform relatively well for Heupel. Milton had his best season under Heupel. I'm not advocating for someone to come in an be handed the job. That's a terrible idea now. I am advocating for an experienced addition to the roster to improve the room and push the competition for the job. I don't care who the QB is. I want the best guy to win it. I just also know we've need three QBs in a season before and really don't feel like getting caught with Phillips as the best option at that point if we could have been in a better situation.I don't like the move.
And this is what I mean. We try to put a little money for a bigtime QB. And Get outbid.
Then we say well, we're comfortable with our room. (Show GMAC getting timing down with his WRs in Florida)
Then AFTER the portal entry window closes we go hard press to try and flip a committed QB.
- Knowing GMAC can't enter the portal at this point.
1) He didn't really let him play most of the year in mop up even though he was right in the QB mix in the summer
2) He doesn't play him against Illinois in the meaningless bowl game where he could have started him (he started Nico in 2024 against Iowa)
3) And now coach gives him false confidence that he can be the guy, and they don't need a big money QB. But just to be safe we won't try to flip a guy until after the transfer portal entry date closes.
Why? Because Heupel is just managing his roster until he sees Faison Brandon is ready. He believes that so much that he doesn't even want to create the opportunity for GMAC to take the job and run with it. And that kind of pisses me off.
I think Brandon is the better QB, but damn GMAC isn't some slouch. He's athletic. 6'6" strong arm. He's just a bit skinny where as Brandon is 220 lbs and 2 inches shorter. He's thicker.
GMAC seems like a true Orange blooded kid, and id like to see him get a real shot. And Im the guy that predicted that Faison Brandon would be the starting QB THIS SEASON.
We have Jason Phillips the walkon. It would be the same situation as 2024 as @NighthawkVol has mentioned.
I would see your point but when I see what JA and Nico have done at other places with lesser talent coming at them on the defensive and then compare that to here, it’s hard for me to agree that it’s because “the offense is simplified”. I’m not saying Heupel is a god of QB talent, but he’s obviously very good at what he’s doing. But is it Heupel is a "QB whisperer", or is it that his offense helps QBs look better? I think he got the absolute most out of all those guys. Aguilar took a huge jump after joining very late in the year. Huepel hasn’t really had an NFL starting caliber QB to work with since Drew Lock. Would’ve been nice to see what he could have done with Ty Simpson.People keep calling Heupel "the QB whisperer". I'm not sure he improved Milton, Nico, or Aguilar.
