2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

I believe we will see a few public commits/signings this weekend and Monday.

Guys who are fringe staters and/or rotational pieces to compete with current fringe starters but signed after the portal is closed so that our guys don’t leave. (RB, IOL, DL, DBs).

I’m not saying it will be a 5star closing of signees. I’m just saying, I expect a list of names to sign once it no longer impacts current roster.

But maybe I’m wrong.
Hopefully this is the case because their numbers are low right now.

Just a reminder. Last year at this time, we were basking in the glow of a playoff appearance, with a nasty defense and the belief that our star QB would improve his game in '25. By April, our QB had ditched us, and after landing the meh QB that UCLA recruited our QB over, we believed we had no chance of fielding a quality offense. Well, that was wrong, and our defense was nasty in a bad way. Life comes at you fast.

Meaning, there is still plenty of time for bad to go good, and good to go bad. So hold some panic in reserve because you're probably spending it on the wrong stuff.

To this point and in the scope of our system, I am unsure why people dismiss lower tier QB or rolling with our current QB room. We have elite weapons. Improve OL, impact RB, load the D. Should get us to 9-10 Ws

And you can see how much time was “wasted” on Sorsby…
A post ahead of it's time

When do players have to be enrolled at Tennessee?

My understanding is anyone in porthole has until that date to sign correct?

Nailed it. It gets old having folks...mainly Jack (who either is Basilio or worships him)...bringing every fart from Basilio over here like it's the gospel. Richard G. West and Basilio bring the same kind of content. The difference is that RGW is clearly a parody account and Basilio is an actual person trying to be taken seriously. I get a laugh out of RGW's tweets being posted on here. Basilio's commentary can GTFO.

Sharing info is fine as long as it’s only positive info. Let’s ignore all the rest.

So portal is technically closed for everyone but Miami and Indiana. That said, I think there is a grace period for paperwork to get entered, so new names could pop up tomorrow. And portal is only closed to entry. Still some solid contributors that remain uncommitted.

Schools have 48 hours to put kids name in portal not counting this weekend or Holiday which is monday...so maybe not until Wednesday

Remember, we had a guy “committed “ to us and then signed with Baylor. So until a guy actually signs then they’re fair game.

This whooooole Transfer Portal thing isn’t really over until… I guess until we fill our needs.

We could go through Spring and still get a QB from the portal if there is one still there during summer. If not mistaken

Maybe it’s an unpopular opinion, but I really don’t understand why we didn’t look at Lagway. I think Heupel could do wonders with him. The kid is an athlete, he just had a terrible coach.
He's wants a fat bag and I would assume they don't view him as any better of an option than GMac. If you're gonna pay top dollar, you want a guy that's an immediate upgrade over G-Mac.

From what we know, the plan was

1. Legitimate high end QB

2. A cheap(ish) depth guy to compete.

I'm not sure why we haven't brought in any lower tier type of guys, like Eget or French or even Tayven Jackson. Then again, maybe we reached out and those guys weren't interested. But it's possible Heup wants to see who else may come on the market, rather than commit to a lower tier guy, because he doesn't view there to be much difference in any of the lower tier guys.
