2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

I've been nothing but positive with how we've handled this portal season thus far, especially on defense. I never once said I was mad. Only you implied that. I'm just frustrated with the QB situation. And I said IF that scenario unfolds. We were supposed to have an easy schedule this year that turned out difficult. Next year's schedule is supposed to be difficult. Who knows.

Well it's not going to happen dude. Heupel's QBs have averaged 33.6 touchdowns a year and 5.6 INTs a year in this offense. We got two highly sought after arm talents with a hell of a supporting cast around them. I'm just telling you that there is zero evidence to suggest we won't have good quarterback play no matter who it is

I just want to point out to all of the "Heupel sucks, we suck, our QB is gonna be bad" doomers out there that that since Heupel has been here, his quarterbacks have accounted for:

154 Touchdowns....
28 interceptions....

That's an average of:
30.8 touchdowns per season
5.6 interceptions per season
65.5% overall completion percentage
(1294 total completions)/ (1948 total passes)x100

And yes that includes quarterbacks such as Gaston Moore, Nico, Jake Merklinger, and Joe Milton.

Heupel is one of the best QB teachers in the sport. That's hard to argue with the numbers you just read. He gets the absolute most out of all of his QBs. He swung for the fences for a big name, with a hell of a backup plan already in house. Frankly I'm excited to see what our young, extremely talented QBs can do in this offense and supporting cast

Not sure all the numbers you looked at but it’s 140 total TDs for an avg of 28 TD per year.

Agree with your point tho!

Gonna try to hold out some type of hope and assume we aren’t going after Mensah because someone else is going to enter the portal………….or it’s gonna end up like Tate and never enters.

I guess there are still a few hours left for some additional QB surprises, but man, what a swing and a miss if we invest all of this money in the defense and ride into a pivotal season for this staff with GMac as our QB1.

And, before people jump on me, I am optimistic about George’s future as a QB, but he’s so young and inexperienced. I’m not saying there is a 0% chance he can’t be solid next year, it just seems like an unnecessarily huge gamble to spend all this money on defensive staff and personnel upgrades only to neglect the most important position on the field.
He would be a RS Freshman, that's when things should start to click. The coaches don't seem too concerned, they just want an experienced back up with a high ceiling. There's a reason they haven't recruited a starter, but they need insurance because FB is a Freshman.

People are crashing out like they did last year. They have unrealistic expectations, just like last year. We have a new DC that has some of his players and some new ones. We will be in a lot of games because of the defense (hopefully) and the run game. Lack of QB doesn't concern me as much as not having a RB committing.
I get the concerns but Heupel has produced 2000 yards every year he's been here and 2500 yards a season 4/5 years. If he can do it with Jabari Small as the lead back, he can certainly do it with DeSean Bishop. I just wish yall were as excited as I am. This place is lame

Heupel made a QB who could only throw at warp speed into a serviceable QB. He made a VT cast-off with a heart condition into a Heisman contender. He turned that Mizzou QB into a stud. He took a team to the playoffs with a dog 💩 rs freshman QB.

I have zero worry about the QB position under Heupel.

Bishop has gotten hurt the past 2 or 3 seasons, so durability is a concern with him. I know his first season was his redshirt year, but he was hurt then too. He has a lot of miles on those tires from HS too.

Reread the last sentence from my original post. " This past year the offense surprised me majorly, so I am holding out hope for GMac unless something major changes soon." I am cautiously optimistic GMac will live up to his potential. I also share the concern he is one brutal hit away from us playing a true freshman or walk on at this rate. I trust Heupel to scheme around him, I just worry that IF he doesn't pan out or isn't ready, and we have no one who can step up, the pieces on the rest of this team could be a waste of what could have been. Only time will tell. It's just off season banter, and me being annoyed at watching other schools not play by the rules while we are seemingly forced to suck up to the NCAA because we're afraid of them for whatever reason.

Moral of the story is what I said to my dad earlier. Never cooperate with the NCAA.
