2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

Was reading an article about Jakobe. Some have insisted it was all NIL, which it wasn’t.
Get this..in ‘24:
Andre Turrentine played 300 more defensive snaps than Jakobe.
Will Brooks played 300 more defensive snaps than Jakobe.
Jakobe and Christian Charles played about the same.
He was pissed. Almost quit. Stuck it out and got paid to go ball out for coaches who knew wtf they were doing.
I’ve been assured it was all about money and that’s it.

Our talent evals and player development on defense has been **** sometimes. Indiana has been so successful because they can identify the right player AND develop them to play their best.
Cignetti served as Saban's recruiting coordinator during the start of Bama's dominance from 2007-2010 and learned everything about how to identify talent from him.

Then cut his teeth at schools like Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Elon and James Madison where you have to be able to find diamonds in the rough and develop them to be successful.

Now he's taken all that and applied it to a Power 4 program that has actual resources. No coincidence what he's doing at Indiana.

Give me Chaz. Let LSU have Leavitt.

Take Pribula and run the Remember the Titans offense with Kendrick and Bishop. Screw it
I’ll allow this but if and only if I get a clip of Knowles screaming “I don’t want those gump bastards to gain another yard!”

And yes I understand that wasn’t the actual quote from the movie, but still!

He had no business coaching safeties, he wasn’t very good at it. GBO
He had no business coaching here, period.... if it wasn't for the nature of the times in early 2021 - Pruitt scandal, looming sanctions, etc. - he never would've been a realistic candidate for the DC job

I’m not the least bit excited about BP, but unless my eyes deceive me, all of those save the first clip are from the same game. It’s a bit unfair to judge a QB on one really terrible game.
On the pick thrown to seal the game for bama, the bama coaches called a defensive play/alignment they had not run all year. Was not on any film. Bamas defensive line dominated our offensive line all day and was the difference. Same with our losses to A&M, OU, and Virginia. Our offensive line could not pass block to save their life.

Almost certain that was a Banks call.

And most of our fans were right here lobbying for him to get more PT. He was clearly the best athlete. Banks blew it

They play ~ 13 on defense the whole year, so the best players are on the field. Banks would play 5-6 safeties on one game and wonder why the defense wasn’t playing as a unit.
Dumbest coach we’ve had on that side of the ball.

Banks is a dumbass, and the fact that Golesh hired him as a position coach at Auburn should give them serious concerns about his ability to get good coaches

Cook did that in 2023, his last year there in 2024 it was 2500 yards on 321 attempts with a 62.6% completion rate. They threw the ball 50 times less in 2024 than his high in 2023 then it dropped even further this year.

Pribula did 1900 yards on 270 attempts but had a 67.4% completion rate.

Now why they have thrown the ball less and less year over year I do not know. Maybe the run game is considerably better. Maybe they didn’t trust Pribula to throw. He had higher turnovers and less average yards per attempt on his throws than Cook. Though, why throw less with Cook than in 2024 over 2023?

Pribula did have less weapons. The best receiver Luther Burden III was drafted in the 2nd last year and the receiving corps was not special this year.

Which is all to say - the 2023 Cooks comparison to 2025 Pribula one is not a fair one and ignores 2024.
2024 they threw less because they lost Cody Schrader and didn’t replace him. When they lost talent in the run game the whole offense suffered for it and they couldn’t maintain possessions nearly as well which lowers the overall number of offensive plays run and thus the volume stats. My point isn’t that Brady Cook is a good QB, in fact the opposite.

I will give you that Pribula didn’t have an elite WR, but when both had an elite run game paired with them the stats are night and day different and one WR isn’t enough to bridge that gap. If Pribula couldn’t match Cook in a similar situation, then it’s not just because he’s not being utilized properly. It’s because he has significant deficiencies in his game.

Above all the stats is the eye test. I watched a majority of Mizzou’s games this season. He looked good against their early schedule but when he got into SEC play it was incredibly uninspiring and they stopped trusting him to throw downfield toward the latter half of the season. I don’t mind him as a backup, but if he’s our starter next year you will spend more time being frustrated than celebrating.
