2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

I don’t have the knowledge that a lot do have on here. I’m just a mother that watched her son play from little league to high school and love my Vols. Do you think that they or some that have jumped into the portal have been watching TTU with the blank check (I know, stupid question) and now want what they perceive they deserve? If so, there’s a lot of them that are going to be disappointed and so will the ones that ‘have their best interest at heart’ 😒.
Asking an eighteen year old kid to choose between staying with his team and commitments vs moving and getting a million dollars is not a fair game.

Fair or not, it’ll work out. TTU can buy whatever they want, that doesn’t make their coach any better and it doesn’t guarantee a championship. If anything, all of this nonsense will likely lead us back to some new portal rules and a market reset. How many thousands of players in the portal right now? Yea, 95% of them aren’t going to get what they want. It’ll all be ok and our coaches are going to get the players we NEED.

Yall still want to pump sunshine? Our staff’s an absolute joke when it comes to the portal, we have been getting bodied on both fronts of it. Everything us “negavols” have been saying about the staff’s recruiting abilities have turned out to be true
Then do us all a favor and go root for Indiana or Texas Tech. They are killing it in the portal. At least we wouldn’t have to read your garbage every day.

think we need another starter

one injury, also edrees has his moments
I'd be interested to know what Knowles/Poindexter think of Farooq and Walton. I think Walton has a lot of upside, just not sure how close he is to reaching it. Maybe they think they can get him there better/faster than the previous staff. Hell, maybe they think that about Beasley too. He looked awful last year to me, but we were told he was really good in fall camp. And he obviously hasn't been asked to leave.

Maybe this new defensive staff thinks 2 or 3 of those guys can be qualify pieces, so maybe they only want 1 starter from the portal (Lane) and another just for depth.

We’ve NEEDED a decent safety for 4 years now…

In before VolNation starts screaming “GET OUT OF HERE WITH YOUR LOGIC! FARH ALL THE COACHES! THEY SUCK!”

We just signed Moss. Is that not a good safety or are you one of those people that thinks stars>fit?
I’m saying the blanket statement that the staff will always get the players they need is erroneous. Was Moss here last year when we NEEDED safety help? No. Instead we let our best safety walk while paying Boo the money Jakobe deserved.

I’m a fan of the Moss pickup, but he’s also played zero snaps for us. He has good potential but it’s not like we brought in a surefire NFL pick level player that we had to fight UGA and OSU for.

You’re the absolutely joke, grown man crying all week about things you know nothing about. The only thing turned out true is your need for instant gratification and that you love to stomp your feet being one of the loudest in the room throwing a tantrum. Things aren’t going the way you think they should so our coaches and their portal process suck. We have another week left of the portal and you don’t have a damn clue what’s going on. Grow up and sack up or stfu.

I have thought this from the get. Really thought that our roster wasn’t as awful as we looked! Might just need the right guy to push them where they need to be to make them quality players.

I think we were certainly lacking in some development, and I hope the new S&C coach/program helps.

Honestly, I think as the offense in CFB have changed, and some of the Defensive coaches have not adjusted properly. Not only does scheme have to change, mindset and some techniques have had to change as well. I think how Banks coached safeties was probably fine 5 years ago but now leaves them out of position constantly. I personally felt like our defense the last 2-3 years was so aggressive that they almost always got baited out of position leaving massive holes for explosive plays. Defense today seems to require gap discipline almost above anything else except maybe raw talent.

Should have taken Cook.
I've read that he wanted a fat bag. I would imagine he also wanted to be a lead back, instead of part of a rotation.

We're probably looking for a Star Thomas replacement, and not someone that's projected to start over Bishop. I think that's why were interested in Perry. Bryson Washington seems to match that mold a little too.

The guy I really want is Dylan Edwards. I really like his potential. Averaged 7 yards per carry in 2024 and had a huge bowl game at the end of that year. He got hurt the first game this past year and didn't play much after he got healthy in order to preserve his redshirt. Still averaged 6 yards a carry this year. He also has been very productive as a receiver in his career, which is something we struggled from our RBs this year. He is super quick as well, reportedly running a laser timed 4.38.

I can agree with that, but that IS why they pay these coaches so well. Coach is used more as noun than a verb these days, and there lies the problem.

Example: if we passed by each other daily and every day I tried to trip you. How many times would it take for you to be ready for me?

I know I would be ready after the first time. These high paid coaches should have guys ready for most things a team does and be able to adjust when the other team does. AND THAT HAS NOT BEEN THE CASE!
