Problem as I see it, is the numbers don't support the fan apathy narrative (at least not yet).

I tend to think the money players in the sport will be impacted and want to 'fix' it long before fan apathy actually sets in.

Truth be told, viewership, both in person and TV is up. Even for all the wailing and nashing of teeth of the fanbase. And this year with 4 new teams vying for a title including 3 looking for their first, it's only drawing more intrest.

I don't disagree, but this portal is different.

The difference is Mahomes will get that State Farm money even if he is traded to the Titans....in CFB, if a player leaves one school to another, the NIL deal is now null and void.

Yup. To avoid paying for play, we pretended players were being paid for their images. Now we have competitive balance reasons to want to rein it in, but we’ve put payment regulation all but beyond regulation.

I think you’re misinterpreting what I posted. I am saying who on Washington’s team Williams to come back there and be there starting quarterback when he wants to go somewhere else. The coach can create as much chaos. He wants to to try and make that quarterback stay because he just signed the contract, but what is the chemistry gonna be like on your team when you’re starting quarterback wanted to go somewhere else?

Not tons yet. No major guys outbound, but that always changes. One OT I wanted to keep. Clemson safety inbound. We’ll need WR help again and it will be a major focus. None signed as of this morning, and I kind of doubt we will play the lottery for the very top guys.

Our backup QB Puglisi has said he’s staying.

This dude is a really good QB. The only thing about the injury is his overall durability and slight drop in production. If he stays healthy, Heupel will have this guy smoking.

Big reason we didn’t portal shop last year was investing heavily in a lot of average players or players who barely contributed. I say good riddance to those who are gone. Save the money on real players who will give max effort and have talent.
