2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

Few things I heard today: Alabama is in full crisis. Apparently DeBoer walked all the way to the edge with the Michigan job while telling players he wasnโ€™t interested. There are big culture clashes and the boosters are in a meltdown. He has an extended contract, a raise and now the rats are leaving the ship. Boosters wish they had leverage, but now they donโ€™t. Poor guysโ€ฆ In that vein, the Simpson thing continues to pick up momentum. His projected spot in the draft seems to be squishy as I indicated before. Also, he wants to play another college season. Lots of smoke. We have the funds. Obviously agents are going to pull toward NFL. Weโ€™ll see. Jordan Ross seems 75+% staying. Had a meeting with every D coach. Likes the energy. Weโ€™ve heard from more D players who will enter, but havenโ€™t yet. Everyone feels good that weโ€™ll sign three safeties, two corners and 2-4 on the D line.
Visits picking up. Iโ€™m not going to cover percentages of each player, but our holes are primarily defense and we have a lot of optimism that weโ€™ll fill all our needs.

Lol, na JK. He's not 100% sure, he's been on the phone with schools, visits, but haven't made up his mind yet. Hopefully he'll make a decision soon.

Hate the coach, but lowkey would love to see him at JMU.

I think all the RBs are gone. Should be able to step right into immediate playing time.

It does. That poster wasnโ€™t wrong. The Neyland updates are one thing, but a friking hotel and entertainment district? None of that crap matters in winning championships. Use the money for players.
There is some nuance to this. I understand the "focus" of wanting to put an emphasis on players and people. But, wealthy people get tax deductions and their names on buildings when they donate to universities. Unless they get a business write-off for expenses (not a deduction), they don't get that for funding NIL. I don't really know specifics of the Neyland Entertainment District. It could also be a partnership with a private entity, which would result in the private entity funding much of the project.

Bottom line is it's not always an "either, or" proposition.

Hopefully we receive word by the end of the week on Ty Simpsonโ€™s decision. If he decides to stay in college, Iโ€™d buckle up.

I have faith that Heupel has a plan for Aguilar and/or Simpsonโ€™s situations.
Chris Lowe was just on the Swain show and said that if Ty doesn't go to the draft that he thinks he will be at Tennessee. He felt like it was going to be a tough decision because most of what he was hearing was that people had Ty in the 15-30 pick range which meant him going in the first round wasn't certain. Chris Lowe is legit so it certainly has legs. Sounds like it might be a real coin flip at the moment and they will just have to decide what they think is best.

Best news all day! Add it to the sack thread @trippiered

The Neyland Entertainment district is just copying what the Braves and other pro teams have done. They want an all inclusive environment that covers sports, food, shopping, and all around entertainment to get more and more people on campus, spending money, which then gets funneled into more projects.

Danny is a lot of things, but I think from an economic standpoint he is pretty savvy. Not saying it will solve a lot of our problems, but the district is going to produce a ton of money and awareness for the brand.

Danny doesn't work for us, he works for the rich and powerful both within and around the university. If the district produces more money for onfield talent, then we have to do it. We will not be the last college team that totally commercializes their gameday experience either. Other big brands are going to do the same, continuing the arms race of money and influence that have corroded the soul of this sport.

Oh **** everyone is on edge

This amount of indignation just isn't justified. You can want us to win, and you can be disappointed if we don't.

But this business of "These boosters (who aren't me) better start spending their money (I won't) to win us a championship!"

Like how outraged can you be when you are basically asking for "sports fan" charity?

Either direct your ire to the proper channels or check out until someone gets around to fixing the sport.
