2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

Gonna be nuts. Surely we can get some defensive help from among what is sure to be a flat out overflowing portal? Oh...and a great QB for next season, too. Actually, that would be priority #1 in my book.
Gonna be interesting to see what Heupel does
With the QB situation.

I'm hoping we give our signed QB's their chance to start, what's the point in signing highly ranked QB's if we never want to use them? If we follow this thinking we will no longer sign highly rated QB's.

At this point no. If Moe were to leave then I’d say go get a starting guard. If Heard leaves I could see us going after a depth IOL.
If Moe leaves you could still have Sham and Perry at Guard. Question would be what is Bennett Warren's development going into Y3 of the program? If he is the guy, we still may not need an portal lineman. Would allow Osenda to develop and be that swing tackle next year.

I think Perry is a much better T than G

I think Perry struggles with speed rushers off the edge. Dont think he has the feet which is why he often misses blocks when we pull the tackles. I like him better at Guard but we both will support whatever the coaches want to do. He did win the starting job at guard going into that Syracuse game tho.

Its an option all I'm saying.

somebody gonna get a good football player that will do anything you ask him to do to help you win. Refreshing.

Sucks he's leaving, but I get it.

Not if neither is ready. We're getting a portal QB, that's a given.

This is UT. We're always one injury away from disaster. You get a shot at a talented OL and you take him.
This. Every year we say we got all we need after a portal addition or 2 and by the time we get into SEC play we have 1 or 2 out and another playing hurt.

I think the point is qb is a mentally and physically demanding position that doesn’t usually line up with an eighteen year old’s abilities. Gmac has a great future as does Brandon. Neither are ready.

I'm in the no camp, we are finally getting some good classes, that won't continue if we use transfers in all the critical positions. Say what you will but it can very easily affect future signing classes. We messed up not allowing Macyntire get real playing time to see what we had but the coaches should have a good idea with practice. In this day and age of college football they won't wait long, to go 2 years means half their college career is over prior to transferring and learning a new offense but hey I'm in the camp of wanting to play as many as possible to get the experience as long as it isn't detrimental. Not a fan of counting on the portal regularly and once you get the rep for preferring portal players it will be that much harder to sign the HS guys. JMO
