2025/2026 Coaching Carousel

The program eerily silent in all of this is Penn State, which likely means they are in talks - or have a deal done - with a sitting head coach whose team is still in CFP contention. If they were going to hire Brian Kelly (which I initially suspected), they would’ve done so by now since the regular season is over.

Could it be DeBoer? Chesney (also in the mix at UCLA)? I even saw Marcus Freeman mentioned as an out-of-nowhere candidate in an SI article.

I could definitely see Deboer getting the hell out of trailer park country. From everything I've heard, he absolutely hates it there. He'd be a better fit at Penn St.

By the way, If Mullen wins today and goes 10-2, these schools that miss out on Kiffin would be moronic to not come crawling to him. Make sure that Mullen has addressed his off field issues with recruiting and sign him. He’s gonna end up a rich man this cycle.

He’s literally had to do nothing this entire carousel cycle and now he’s one of the top guys that schools SHOULD be flocking to
I think his recruiting is/was overblown. His classes at UF were 16th, 11th, 8th and 13th. Even the transitional class from him to Napier was 19th. Some guys can win more with less and I think Mullen is that and proved that at State. UF has to be kicking themselves at this point, you fired a guy who beat UGA, played Bama as close as anyone during that stretch, went to 3 straight NY6 bowls, played for an SECC and basically won 10-11 games for 3 consecutive years (I’m counting 2020 as if they had played a traditional schedule with OOC opponents). WTF were you thinking!!??

Well no in NIL days, he can drop all that to a GM and have them build the roster. I would not be shocked if he is getting hired back into the SEC this time next year. The funniest thing would be him getting hired at Ole Miss lol

Great point, his recruiting “weakness” would practically be a moot point now.

Damn, talk about whiplash. Seemed destined an hour ago that Auburn was going with Durkin and Arkansas was getting Golesh, but now Auburn winds up with Golesh and Arkansas is taking Silverfield from Memphis.
Silverfield???? Bless Arkansas’ heart.

Said it before. Be careful what you do in today’s college football. The head coaching pool is very shallow.

If DeBoer leaves for Penn State (unlikely, but who knows anymore) would Bama do whatever it takes to bring Dabo home? Dan Lanning maybe?

DeBoer ain't leaving Gump... especially for THAT dumpster fire. Good Lord.

He's still one of the best coaches in the country. 1 season doesn't change that.

I guess but still seems like his trajectory is going the wrong way. They made the CFP last year but it was an upset in the ACC Championship. And this is Alabama we're talking about, I dont' think they'll be as excited about him versus 5-6 years ago.
