From the interview this morning they have to pass an interview with Coach Caldwell on the phone. I don't know who we will get, but she is giving it to them straight what to expect and then if they don't like what they are hearing that is it. So don't know who we have lined up, but they know exactly what is expected and what they are getting into by coming to Tennessee.
Hope Nyla was her first call!!

When Butch Jones was let go he took an unpaid position. My assumption was that if he had taken a paid position he would have forfeited his buy out from UT. Was I incorrect on that?
If I was correct would that also apply to Kellie?
$500k/yr versus ??
He made 35K

Assuming isn’t your strength lately

Most people try to make a point by singling out Marshall blowout loss to Virginia Tech. If you want to talk about that game, talk about how Marshall beat Florida. And how Marshall beat Southern Miss a team that beat Ole Miss. Coach Caldwell in one year turned around the Marshall WBB program. One game doesn’t define her system and how it’ll translate to the SEC. Look at her entire resume.

And also I think it’s contradicting how some point out the Marshall game against VT, but yet give VT coach the benefit of the doubt to turn around a Kentucky program that was blown out several times over the course of the season. The former coach from VT is not that great of a coach to be seen as a guarantee to completely turn that program around in year one with a few solid players.
You might try looking at Kenny Brooks 13 years at James Madison prior to VT. In only two seasons, did he not win at least 24 games. Then moved Virginia Tech quickly into the national spotlight. If you are stating he is not a very good coach, you just made my point, but he actually is a very good coach. You don't lose to a team by 43 points and moreso, you don't lose to a poorly coached team by that many.

Just watch the game.

Just watch the game.
I watched the game last night. Absolutely no adjustments were made when VT was pouring it on. In this league, you need a plan A, B, & C and be ready to adjust. That is what bothered me so much about Kellie at times is that she would not make major in game adjustments until halftime and then we seemed to just run out of time.

They can watch the game and still have their eyes closed. Tennessee will start off better than they have the previous two seasons and some folks will still be talking about Marshall vs Virginia Tech like it has something to do with UT & Coach Caldwell. Marshall hadn’t played in the NCAA tourney since 1997. She got them there in one season.

And every basketball team has a truly terrible game every once in a while and get drubbed. I would never form a forever opinion about a team or their coaching staff based on one game.

That may be, but as long as Strength of Schedule is still top three, we should get a good gauge on it. I will say this again, there is a huge difference between the Sunbelt and a conference that has the last three NCAA National championship teams.

This is the problem, in my opinion. A coach has to be willing to adjust if the original plan is not working. I think that is something CKC will have to learn how to do. In D2 and in the mid-majors probably not as important but against the top competition with coaches who do adjust based on the game, it will result with losses and blowouts. The top coaches will figure out how to break that press rather quickly.

That will be a factor of what teams we face in the first part of the schedule. If the schedule is loaded with top out of conference competition, just like it has been the last two years, we will know quickly if it will be a year to forget or not - if the schedule is easy, we will not know anything until the back end of the schedule when SEC play starts.

I truly expect an attempt to lighten the out of conference schedule. The problem is if the SOS is too low, and the SEC part results with a mid to lower finish in the SEC, the NCAA streak is broken.

Keeping that NCCA appearance streak should be a goal for next year - because if it is broken, the natives will become very restless - because both Holly and Kellie were able to maintain that even in their worst years.

100%. Otherwise Auburn would have probably won the League last year. Even coach Yo has pulled her defense back after a couple of years in this league and she was a pressing coach at her former mid-major and early on at Ole Miss. Getting beat on the press just a few times is enough to lose a game in this league. If the press was a way to win consistently in this league, wouldn't you think Dawn Staley with her 9-10 all-Americans wouldn't be up full court from start to finish? She has enough talent and athleticism to rotate like that on a nightly basis and not wear her players out.

Don't we play Uconn early this year in some type of tournament?
