Well, the portal will likely disrupt any current predictions, but no Puckett?

Spear, definite
Wells, assuming recovery and not a better PG brought in
Cooper, yes very likely
Puckett, my pick
Strickland

first off bench Jillian, Wynn, and Strickland with Boyd hopefully moving up as the season moves on.

The line-up is an okay fit with how Caldwell presumably likes to play (Sara might struggle because she is not the fleetest of foot).

But Caldwell also likes to spread the floor with 3 pt. shooters (and I endorse that 100%). In that line-up, only Spear and Pucket fit the bill, unless Karo gets more consistent.
Yeah, that’s the thing is that Puckett fits the space it out and shoot threes. She is one of our better shooters. However, I just can’t see her pressing. Maybe for the mass subs she’ll keep up for 5 minutes.

Puckett has good length, a press is all about how you set it up.

She has a good bball IQ and could be a good rover to pick bad passes to the middle of the court or trap as soon as player crosses half.

I’m 6’3” and that’s where I played on the press when I was playing. It’s tough to throw over 6’2” when you’re trapped on the sideline. Just a turnover waiting to happen.

Never felt like we took advantage of our length in that way. We never made it tough to pass over or around us.

True. She would need to cover her space well though. Guess we’ll see.

Wouldn’t mind Sara playing the back of the press.

She looks like she’s interested, she reposted this.

Only thing were going to need to be careful with getting one year players. We have only three players eligible to return in 2025, We need two year players at least as many as we can get as we no longer have any high school recruits for 2025 that are committed.

Yes but that’s only one extra player, we will get other portal players and the 2025 class. I’ll be so happy if she comes back, and she’s reposting all the posts about coming back, so it’s up to the coach now to get her here.

Zaay Green is one of the quickest players we ever had. She is exactly the type of player we need right now, and have for several years. Gotta somehow start getting our quickness more on par with the top SEC teams. We definitely need our good-shooting workhorses like Puckett, whom I adore for her toughness and work ethic, but gotta get some quicker bodies in there with her to make up for her (and a couple of others) being just a half-step slower than we'd like. But MAN, I have always loved how Puckett can body down low or go out and get us into a Sweet 16 with her cool shooting from outside. 🧡

I know a few folks aren't yet on board with Ace Strickland, but I see a heckuva lot of potential in her having a terrific season upcoming. She's extremely active, moves her feet, and seems determined to be in on every play in some way. I like that she's got quickness. Not Zaay Green level, but she can move and I suspect will mature even further in her game this offseason. Just my two cents on Ace.

I would love to see Zaay in orange again. Seriously.

Zaay is quick with the ball and not out of control, some players are quick but they can’t dribble well while moving fast, and she’s also great at penetration and dishing out to shooters, Jewel would get so many open looks, I really hope this happens.
