Sometimes you take highest offer like dude at University of Washington but what is the team around them? It's not fun playing with a bunch of scrubs and probably a lot of players don't solely want money but also want to play on a good team. Most places don't have the Indiana, UK, Arkansas NIL basketball investment where those schools are totally dependent solely on men's basketball.I find it absurd to believe a player is going to play somewhere for less money but to each their own.
I’ll work somewhere for less money if I prefer the people, working environment, and work assignment but I’ve worked a long time and haven’t struggled with money for a long time. Not sure what I would have done as a college student? Hopefully Lanier has good family support to help him make his best choice whether or not it’s UT.I find it absurd to believe a player is going to play somewhere for less money but to each their own.
You're looking at it thru a very myopic lens if that is all you think there is to be considered.I find it absurd to believe a player is going to play somewhere for less money but to each their own.
This is what teams who don't pay top NIL say to justify and make excuses to feel better about chances.Thing is if your goal is a real shot at playing professionally, NBA or otherwise. You can’t simply go get paid NIL. You need to think about where you fit in that will get you exposure (playing in March), teammates that can help you win & get better, coaches that can develop you and have connections, and also a school that has top notch facilities & staff.
Players only looking at max dollars aren’t the guys Barnes & staff are looking for. That’s the difference and why if we’re deep into recruiting a player I rarely fret too much about NIL.
Thats why continuing to run with this false narrative “nil vs development” is ridiculous, again our offer is ever changing and very competitive most likely. So this whole argument and premise is just dumb. This is what teams who don't pay top NIL say to justify and make excuses to feel better about chances.
The argument that a kid can't get PAID top nil and make it to the LEAGUE at Kentucky is absurd (and I hate Kentucky with the best of them)
