Do we actually have a shot at both Igor and Tyson without running off Shack or another wing? Ramey alluded to it being either/or earlier, but definitely don’t trust him on this stuff.

“Hey Shack wanna play the 2?”

It’s a good point since Igor and Dubar both played 30+ minutes last season. If you add Lanier that’s another 30 minute guy.

I’d say screw another transfer. Shack can play the 2.

ZZ / Shack / Dubar / Igor / Okpara

Cade can be the 6th man. That’s the only way I see it working, or you start Cade and Shack can be the 6th man that takes over for whoever at 2-4.

The staff went into this thinking it was one or the other just simply playing the odds, they set the visits the way they did for that reason. Now that Tyson has left UNC without committing and in is in dialogue with the staff and allowing a meeting to be set up they are fully prepared to take both players.

Maybe that means you don’t take Lanier later on, maybe it means someone leaves, maybe it means nothing, but imo you take the guys you like and ask questions later.

We haven’t really been “in contact” with any other guys that play the 2, at least not publicly

I saw a poster earlier saying something about Lanier and Maryland. With the good news you posted, it all kind of goes together in a way.

If you land both Igor and Tyson. You’d have ZZ/Shack/Dubar/Igor/Okpara, with Cade being the 6th man that could still see 25+ minutes taking over for guys at the 2-3 or 2-4. Starters would still see normal minutes and everyone is happy. (Or whoever the 6th man is, could be Shack, Dubar or Tyson).

Fwiw I still think as of this moment the staff plans to pursue Lanier (assuming he enters the portal)…now if you land both does that change things? Maybe. As I said though, I’d still pursue him.

Lanier, Tyson, Igor, and Dubar would be a lot of mouths to feed and minutes to promise with guys still on the team. Guessing they aren't interested in waiting for Lanier to go through NBA draft process and just roll with ZZ, Mashack, Carr, and Gainey as main guards. Tyson, Igor, Dubar as wings and then Felix/Estrella as bigs. That would be really solid 9 players regardless how rest of team is built out.

Idk why that makes me nervous. I feel like that would come down to Lanier or Mashack…

Idk why I came to that conclusion, but I think I’d leave it be if we land Igor and Cade lol

Honestly, I say load up on talent. If someone runs from competition, so be it. I look at it as the guys coming from the portal are running TO competition. I'll take those cats every single time.

I would take Tyson over Lanier. No offense to Lanier as he looks like a good player. Tyson has two years left and if we have depth anywhere it is at 2G. Mashack and ZZ can be the best defensive backcourt in the country.

Forward rotation of Tyson, Milicic and Dubar gives you at 2 perimeter shooters at the 3 and 4 at all times. At times they would be on the court together.

Add in mashack continuing to develop his 3 shot and we have ourselves another great team

Fair, but Mashack is more than capable starting @ the 3 while ZZ & Lanier run the primary guard positions... Lanier is a proven shot creator and can help Zeigler the way Vescovi had done... Tyson can't provide us what Lanier can. And Gainey coming off the bench to relieve ZZ & Lanier. I could see that working out... I honestly hope we get Lanier personally he is much more of an overall go-to guy who fills Vescovis absence...

And we all know Mashack can run positions 2-4 while Dubar gets 3-4 run while Cam Carr can play 2-3 but also potential help at the 4 with his 7'1" wingspan if he gets in on small ball lineups...... We are looking at a position-less team. I see far too many downplaying Boswell's potential at finding pt - I just go back to ZZ committing & my first thought was "redshirt." And we know Bishop can play D so we never know what can happen there....

If we can get 6'10" Igor + 6'4" Chaz Lanier & obviously tomorrows B🍊🍊M of 6'11" Felix Okpara - I don't care who else we get... That's a loaded squad...

If we get Tyson and Not Lanier - we have less ball-handlers and shot creators ...imo ...

therefore Igor - Okpara + Lanier my 3 wants without a doubt
