Right, because they knew he planned to transfer barring unexpected NBA feedback and were under the impression he was a lock to come here when he didn’t get the feedback he wanted. Sounds like he’d probably be the highest paid or 2nd highest paid guy on the roster. Is that true though?
Chaz wasn't even in the portal until the new legislation forced him to enter April 24th (just a week before it closed)...and we haven't been mentioned with any other 2 guard at all. Seems like the staff prioritized longer wing guys (Tyson, Dubar, Tucker) and frontcourt players (Felix, Igor) more than the guard spot.
BumpMy access only goes so far, but I can lend a little context— He and his family are pretty invested in him coming here. Pope has put on the hard sell, and it will require us to adjust our numbers a bit, but not to the degree being discussed. We are allowing for that flexibility, and I think that is smart in this market. As I’ve mentioned before, this year is markedly different. He will cost more than Knecht, but Knecht would cost more than Lanier in 24. It is what it is. If it were truly to become a “bidding war”, we’d opt out. I don’t think it will. He’s going to visit this week. I won’t be surprised if this is wrapped up by early to middle of next week. In three months of talking to people in the program, they’ve never been concerned that we’ll lose him. I could be wrong, they could be wrong, things could change etc… I still feel good. Like you, I believe his game will change against better/longer defenders, but I do believe he’ll do well here.
Yeah and maybe I will win the lottery without buying a ticket.Maybe they update will calm down @TrippieRedd a bit, although somehow I doubt it
No he doesn’t - like your daddy used to tell you; “are you going to jump off a bridge just because your friend does?”. UT basketball will go on with or without Lanier. If some other program starts desperately throwing around stupid levels of $ to get a player then good luck to them. There has to be some kind of budget within reason or this NIL process will blow up college athletics. I trust in coach Barnes to make good choices! If true that will be a huge ouch. No way around it. Barnes needs to drop the bank for Lanier right now
“Tennessee is the heavy favorite but Kentucky’s made up some ground” is 50/50 in Trippie talk? Maybe if they said “Kentucky has pulled even with TN” it would be 50/50.Soooo basically 50/50…just like Trilly said? Lol
It’s money vs development. I’ve been saying that the whole time. He will get more money at UK, but will get developed better at UT.
I was just passing along info from another board earlier. I don’t usually lurk on other boards enough to know if they are legit or not.
Yeah that was my thought also @walkenvol Aligns with what SF already said as well. UT leads but Kentucky is a close 2nd (they made a big offer and we'll need to adjust our numbers some).“Tennessee is the heavy favorite but Kentucky’s made up some ground” is 50/50 in Trippie talk? You’re assuming Trilly which if I understand correctly is an an anonymous web site equals 247 which is a known commodity. JMO
I only pointed out that what 247 posted wasn’t 50/50. BTO has posted 98/2 earlier. Sfumbles has posted similar. I believe both those guys concerning UT verses any random website. But recruiting is fluid as we’ve all agreed. No pissing from my direction - just on topic discussion. It’s about the same.
Trilly is usually spot on. He’s missed maybe a handful of times….maybe.
There’s a reason why people pay for his discord. Not sure why you’re trying to turn it into a piss contest on who’s better lol
And all I was trying to say was the random Twitter page saying UK made an offer that Chaz can’t turn down.I only pointed out that what 247 posted wasn’t 50/50. BTO has posted 98/2 earlier. What do you predict his last prediction will be?Those are official predictions from him, which is completely different than his 53/47 comment, not even remotely the same. He’s changed his tune about 4-5 times on Lanier since he entered the portal, I’m guessing 53-47 isn’t his last quote on the topic either.
He bolded the part where I said he’s hardly wrong. I was proving he doesn’t miss much. Those are official predictions from him, which is completely different than his 53/47 comment, not even remotely the same.
