Also, if we are going to save a spot, I'd prefer it come at the expense of Mabor, not Anderson. Anderson>Mabor as a developmental guy. Mabor, like Tamba before him, has a 10% chance of hitting. Anderson is closer to 50%.With Anderson I’m seeing a bit of a red flag..
At 6’9” 190 pounds he played 30 minutes a game and only averaged 3.7 rebounds in the Atlantic Sun. Vescovi averaged 3.7 rebounds in 25 minutes a game this year. You gotta hit the boards harder than that to play for Barnes imo lol.
Do you think that maybe they just save a spot in their back pocket? I don’t think we really need to add anyone else if we get Lanier, Igor, and Mabar. Would be nice to have the flexibility in case someone emerges in the summer.
It's not always that black and white. Dalton Knecht is 6-6, 200 lbs and averaged 1 more rebound. Is Rick Barnes a joke? Guys who shoot from the perimeter aren't usually the guys gobbling up rebounds, regardless of height. I noted he needed to improve there. Not sure what else you want me to say. You've admitted you have a very limited knowledge of him as a player. Maybe watch some of his highlights and see where he plays and why he wasn't averaging 7 boards a game. His coach must be a joke if he doesn’t task his perimeter players with rebounding. Never seen a coach who doesn’t preach rebounding as a team effort.
Yeah that’s what I was saying in an earlier post, Mabor reminds me of a lot of Tamba and I know he transferred out after a year to Weber State. Like you, I think Anderson has much more potential, I guess it just depends on how many mouths the staff wants to feed (if it even came down to an either/or situation)Also, if we are going to save a spot, I'd prefer it come at the expense of Mabor, not Anderson. Where did Mabor play this past season and what year is he? Is he in the portal? Thanks!![]()

We will have to agree to disagree on that one. 3pt shooters who don't play defense or rebound are much more abundant than athletic 7 footers with the potential to develop into a dominant big man. Also, if we are going to save a spot, I'd prefer it come at the expense of Mabor, not Anderson. Acknowleding that 4 is 32% more than 3 is juicing up a stat to sound more substantial than it really is. No one is going gaga over Knecht's rebounding numbers. He was also 22 years old playing his 5th year of college basketball as opposed to a 19 year old kid in his first year. Anderson needs to improve as a rebounder. No argument. But modest rebounding numbers from a kid playing guard as a skinny freshman isn't really a red flag. It's an area to improve.DK 4.9 rbs
Anderson 3.7 rbs
Both played 30 minutes per game
That’s 32% more rebounding production by Knecht in the SEC compared to the A-Sun. I’ll give him a look, just saying it’s a bad statistic for his resume regardless of position.
As a freshman. After watching 5 minutes, He’s got about as pretty of a stroke as I’ve seen and it’s quick. I’ll give him that. But would be a hard pass for me.
27% effective fg% off the dribble which is in the 4th percentile nationally. 1.5 assists per game. Only 20% of his fga come around the rim. So he’s strictly a spot up shooter. His defensive metrics are poor. He was basically just a catch and shoot guy on a 9-23 squad with the 298th strength of schedule in the country.
Agree to disagree. I don’t see much to build on with him as a prospect. He’s a phenomenonal shooter. But too limited in his potential in other areas imo.As a freshman.
You don't think a guy with that kind of stroke could maybe improve in other areas in three years under Rick Barnes?
I think the detractors would have a good point if we were pursuing him as our primary target in hopes of him producing at a high level next season. But you aren't going to land 5 immediate impact players with what we have returning all willing to come in and harmonize singing Kumbaya.
Anderson is a perfect developmental prospect as our 5th option in the portal because he isn't likely to expect to be the primary option. People don't have to like him, but those who don't and are simultaneously expecting Cade Tyson to be our primary weapon and savior next season need a reality check. He and Anderson had very similar freshman season numbers in mid-major leagues.
